Hi Brian,
Yes, I am supplying my client with one continual animation made up of 15 camera moves.
The reason for using 15 different cameras is that they keep wanting the moves of the camera to be changed and also the duration the camera takes to travel in different areas of the animation.
If I use one spline and the align to spline whenever I lengthen or shorten it it will effect the rest of the camera move and I have a lot of keyframed rotation and target nulls.
But the problem doing it my way is that when I move for example the end of spline for camera 1 I then have to copy all the coordinates for the start of spline 2.
So I just wondered if the index points of different splines could be attached in some way using xpresso so I don’t have to keep coping the coordinates if I move a spline. So almost like a chain of splines.
Cheers,
Rich

Hi,
I see what the problem is.
You have duplicated points in your illustrator file.
If you click on ‘point selection’ and then with your selection tool(Make sure ‘only visible elements’ is checked in the attributes panel) drag over the spine and press delete you will see that there are still points on the screen.
You need to check your illustrator doc and delete the duplicates and then it should be fine.

Thanks Brian, that was a lot simpler than I thought it would be. : )

Thanks Adam and Darby,
I used the flat material projection on the null in the end. It worked well and I couldn’t quite work out the way how to do it with a shader effector.
thanks as always.

Thanks Thomas and Brian. The spline wrap looks the simplist method.
Thanks again.

Thanks Thomas. I’ll give that a go and let you know how I get on.
Oh the file you mentioned wasn’t attached?

Hi Brian,
Sorry about that, the link should work now.
Thanks in advance for taking a look at the file.

Cheers Brian, I would have been here until Christmas working that one out. Thanks for knowing the answer.

Thanks Adam that’s perfect. Just looking to see how you did it now. I notice you had the Cloner object mode set to object. I had it set to linear.
Anyhow thanks again.

Hi Adam,
Yes I think I will add a bit of motion blur to the scene. Its definately not a computer speed issue as I am running a quad core G5 with 4GB of ram.
I think it is a combination of being a model having sharp straight edges and the speed of the camera pan movement that is creating the juttering feel to the animation. Motion blur might soften it up a bit.
Cheers for your input.
