As it turns out, the mic I have attached apparently is faulty. When it is attached it goes goes into stereo only recording. When it is not attached or even just NOT turned on, the 5.1 icon appears and it records in 5.1.
Thx for your response. sorry to waist your time.

Thanks, John.

January 6, 2010 at 6:38 pm in reply to: AV Sync problem-Pro advice desperately neededJohn…hope you’re still out there listening! Or, of course, anyone else that may help me figure this out.
What I’ve done since my last post was to experiment a little. Again, I am not very literate with hardware or software so the likely hood of me doing something wrong is high. Anyway….I have repeatedly played the veg file and the rendered digital file of the same video with the following settings;
Pixel Format: 8-bit
Full resolution rendering quality: Best
Adjust source media to better match project or render settings: This is checkedAUDIO
Sample Rate: 48KHz
Bit Depth: 16
Resample & strecth quality: Best
StereoRendered Using SONY AVC
Template: AVCHD 1440×1080-60iEverytime I play either file back thru Vegas 9 (veg file) or indows media (AVC rendered file) it will eventually go out of sync. NEVER in the exact same spot. Some tmes it is in the same area…some times it is not. It isn’t like there is an obvious GLITCH or scratch that creates a [problem at the exact spot each time. It always varies. This tells me the chances of it being related to my hardware is significant.
The machine I’m using is a Vaio VGN AW190, Duo Core 2.8 GHz, 8 GB RAM, 64bit OS.
The other machine I’m uing to play my digital files is a Popcorn Hour C-200. I get the same type of results using both machines.
To try & identify if it’s a hardware issue, I used Vegas to render and burn to Bluray disc.
Playing the disc back on my Vaio Notebook…it played perfectly. NO SYNC issues!!! Do you believe it’s a hardware issue?? How can I be sure?? More importantly….How the hell can i play these great files in the best quality withour down sizing its resolution??!!!Thank you.

January 4, 2010 at 7:31 pm in reply to: AV Sync problem-Pro advice desperately neededOthers, too. But not all. It happens when I play the renedered file and the veg file. But almost never in the exact same spot….near the same place just not exactly. It also does it when playing via my “Popcorn Hour” digital Media player thru my projector. Really driving me crazy!!
You know, this also happened with an old file I was editing that was originally shot on my old Hi-8mm camcorder. I have to start looking at everytthing to see if all my stuff is buged.

January 4, 2010 at 7:12 pm in reply to: AV Sync problem-Pro advice desperately neededIt seemed to flow well fo about 7 minutes. then all of a sudden it began doing it again. It is strange how the video looks when it begins doing it. All of a sudden the video will start slightly hesitating. I don’t know how else to explain it. It’s as if it just can’t keep up any longer…..

January 4, 2010 at 6:00 pm in reply to: AV Sync problem-Pro advice desperately neededI’m not sure I’m doing this correctly…I opened the VEG file and highlighted a section of the video. Then I simply pressed “Shift” & “B” at the same time…then pressed play. Is this correct? It did dtill stutter and go off sync.

August 27, 2009 at 12:14 pm in reply to: Burn AVC to Bluray that works in Reg Bluray PlayerYes, I’m using Sony BD-RE discs and the player recognizes thats what they are but says it can’t play the disc. I’m assuming it’s a bug of somekind that needs fixed with yet another firmware update…one that I’m not sure will ever come.
