  • Thanks, John. Yes, like you, I too have installed multiple firmware updates on my Pioneer. Apparently, they have not released the one I need to resolve my issue as I have the most recent. From eveything I’ve read in the manual, etc it is supposed to be able to read them. Apparently there’s a bug of somekind that remains.

“you can place generated media on a lower track so that the black “pillarbox” bars are actually a nice non-distracting background”

This is exactly what I’d prefer to do! I understand the result you’re descibing and for this project and, I would imagine most any other, this will create a more professional and aesthetic appearance. I also understand the loss of resolution you descibe going the other way. This certainly wouldn’t be an enhancement.

I am very much a novice and don’t expect a step by step BUT if you could simply explain how to begin to accomplish what you describe in the above quotes I will be very appreciative!!

    Thx much

    John,

As always, thx for your insightful response. I knew full well there were many elements to be considered. My problem, being the passionate hobbiest I am, is that I’m never certain of exactly what may even need considered!
I follow all of what you descibed. I am much less familiar with how to accomplish some of the possible steps.

This will be displayed via an HD Projector and I believe I prefer to upscale the SD so that the entire presentation delivered that way.

I do have some cropping decisions.I believe the most appealing is to Pillar Box the 4.3 to the 16×9. I’m not sure what step to take to the Sd stuff though. I just haven’t tried to figure that out. I will though…by this evening I will have assembled all of the SD material. I would venture to guess now would be the best time to address the aspect ratio prior to adding the HD stuff.?

    Thx again

    Richard

  • Thanks for your response. I have seen that mentioned all over the place here and actually meant to ask if that was a program I should buy. But then I figured I’d be better off NOT trying to answer my own question!

I am not an expert..just a hobbiest trying to learn, hence the simple questions; can you also explain the difference between Bluray authoring and buring to Bluray disc? Reading many of the posts here brought to my attention that there may be a distinction between the 2. I ultimately want to edit and burn my AVCHD video(shot with my Sony HD-SR1) to produce the best possible image when played back in my Bluray player.

    Thanks for reading…

  • Thanks, John, for your response. really appreciate it. This has been driving me nuts. I’m just really dissapointed I am experiencing this issue with the vaio. streaming and to edit were 2 of the main reasons for buying the Vaio.

I need to look into the projector to see what it might be doing….it’s a Runco and while there are a variety of settings I will need to research it.

I will also look into your player suggestion…..

  • Here is another pic…..

  • Here is a photo that shows the “Banding” noise I get. In some spots, it’s a very thin line that actually breaks up the image and moves them to the right or left so they don’t allign. Others are a bit wider but all are horizontal and only happen when the camera is moving. It also happens very quickly.

    I hope you can see with the lower rez photos I had to upload. I will post 1-2 more as well……I’m not sure if I need the link or ebedded code…heres both;

  • duh.

    Thx!

  • hanks for your response John. I have rendered in progressive, I believe; WMV, V11, 8 Mbps HD 1080-30p Video. Still same issue occurs.

I’d love for some one such as yourself who has much more knowledge than I to see what I am seeing. But, it is very difficult if not imposible to see on my monitor. I see it very clearly, however, via the projector. With that said, I guess I can get a screen shot by taking a photo of it on my projection screen…..I’ll try that.

DUMB question, I know but, hodo I post a photo here?

Hey, also, the “Motion Blur Type” setting…I believe mine was set to “Gaussian”…could this have any effect to my issue? It seems as though it only hapens with motion in portions…
