  • Burn AVC to Bluray that works in Reg Bluray Player

Posted by Richard Diandrea ii on August 25, 2009 at 6:56 pm

I have searched without finding the specific answers i need. I have edited AVCHD files in Vegas 9 and have found how, by going to Tools, to burn a bluray disc. But when I tried this the disc wouldn’t play in my Pioneer 05 Bluray player. I’m not sure If i missed a step or what. Is there a specific proceedure I need to follow in order to have the disc be recognized by a regular Bluray player?

    Thx

Make sure that your Blu-ray player has all the latest firmware updates from the manufacturer. Unlike DVD, the Blu-ray manufacturers seem to be having a very difficult time getting Blu-ray to play correctly. My Samsung player has gone through several firmware updates and had a lot of problem playing discs in the beginning. Good luck.

Thanks, John. Yes, like you, I too have installed multiple firmware updates on my Pioneer. Apparently, they have not released the one I need to resolve my issue as I have the most recent. From eveything I’ve read in the manual, etc it is supposed to be able to read them. Apparently there’s a bug of somekind that remains.

Are you burning to Blu-ray media or to a DVD media. I’ve had a lot of trouble with DVD media not being read properly. You really need to use Blu-ray media for HD.

Yes, I’m using Sony BD-RE discs and the player recognizes thats what they are but says it can’t play the disc. I’m assuming it’s a bug of somekind that needs fixed with yet another firmware update…one that I’m not sure will ever come.

Just to be sure it’s not the disc, you might want to take it to the local electronics store and see if they will play it in a few Blu-ray players for you. Do you have DVD Architect? See if authoring a disc with a simple menu yields different results.
