This does exactly what you need for less than $700.00. plus hardware(This means computer and basic capture cards) Total cost for me was about 2k, for computer, app and firewire cards and 900. for extenders. If you have computer (specs are not that high most of off the shelf computers can work providing you can add the number of fw cards you need and 2 extra hdd one for video and another to record) then cost will be much less.

Its called cutfour, Go to avtake.com

I do sports and talking heads and concerts.
It comes in dv and sd flavors (soon hd) i use 4, z1 cameras.

Does most of what you need and more. Almost like broadcastpix and tricaster,in certain aspect better.

Up to 4 cameras. its 720×480 resolution. records to hdd, can insert avi clips, images and titles screen capture.

You can connect camera component,dv,composite, hdmi, depending on hardware the system can use blackmagic intensity or decklink cards, or just simple firewire cards.

I use plain old fw. I purchased fw extenders and can place my cameras up to 200 feet away with no sync problems.
When I do talking heads I use 60 foot firewire cables.

You can also broadcast simultaneously to internet using any program you want.

    Try this

    https://avtake.com/cutfoursd.asp

You can record and stream at the same time. Records avi 720×484 to separte disk, 4 cameras and desktop capture and send to screen at the same time. This and much more.

Neither you nor Bob have any Idea what you are talking about. You guys are thinking in broadcast home shopping center and while the man is thinking of something similar the realities of live web production not only presents opportunities but also many challenges.

The fellow wants an internet show which imop does not necessarily have to be live and certainly has no need for high end hardware or the old broadcast workflow. I was presenting a workflow that could make his life easier and present high end look without the invoice for high end equipment, or overstaffing by making most of the content prerecorded

Live communication with the host is no brainer if he wants it but is not key in this type of production most of the interaction is done with call reps not the host. I can understand a news announcer needing instant contact with the producer or director but someone selling rings or cloths, I don’t know but I think not. At least not much

I don’t know what he plans to sell but whatever needs to look good at the bandwidth he is planning to use but certainly it should be availble in various sizes.

Can you imagine seeing all that content in a mini screen? not to mention the resolution?

Of course if he uses nitwits for talent he is going to need more than real-time communications.

Its different medium with different realities just like film and tv has its ascetics so does the internet and this affects the way its produced. Remember form follow function.

So try thinking out of the box, new times and new ways are here.

Check these products they can give great performance at a real low price specialy for internet.

avtake.com currently using firewire cameras but shortly will be able to use componet, hdmi and composite for sd and hd. it recoreds in avi and streams multigraph video simultaneously using any encoder. I have used it wuth great results.

also check vidblaster.com it has some drawbacks for broadcasting but for internet its fine.

    good luck

You can also check 2 software based video switchers

avtake.com at the moment only by firewire connection but shortly they are releasing a blackmajic intensity card version where you can mix 4 cameras via component of hdmi for hd or composite for sd. At present its only sd 720×480 it records in 720×480 avi and exports simultaneous realtime multigraph video using most encoders for internet, you can import pgn and tiff files for titles.

vidblaster.com looks promsing and the interface looks better but as far as i know it will not record avi 720×480 or hd which to me makes it useless for profesional broadcast. I hope it gets their.

I have used avtake for sporting events and talking heads with great results. i use 4 cameras with fw extenders meaning i can have the cameras 100 ft away from the computers.

Depending on youy setup you can have a full system starting for under 5k

    These only run under windows

    good luck

Its seems to that something is wrong with your instalation, a licese should not do what is happening. When you pay the people that take the payment and send the link they have a ph. call them.

If not, direct your support e-mail to Ismo he is the boss at avtake and put a strong subject matter. sometimes it takes two or tree days for a response, they are busy with the next version which should be out by the end of summer, this version has some interface upgrades and the ability to use intensity pro cards. )by the end of the year it will be HD)I was told that the upgrade for current users was going to be very cheap.

I have bee using cut four for about 2 months for live taping and internet sports streaming, no problem at all.

Let me know of you status

If you got a ton of cash and want to make Bob happy and richer buy from him and let him design your setup. I am sure you will get great equipmentand and a topsetup.

However you can do the same an even better with much less. Remember some people makes a living selling expensive gear and feel threatend by the shape of thing to come.

Based on your post you almost have all you need and the rest can be had for much less than what you think.

Only drawback is no cheap animated graphics generator that I know of.

You would need either a well powered pc of g5 running windows because the app only runs on win xp, however it outputs mov files which you can edit in FC.

No need for encoder box unless you are doing standard def or higher

With this app you do not need tape decks, all your video and image files can be on hd drives Separte from sys hd

You should use an audio console and any deck for music or othe sound.

    Vidblaster workflow for your project

1-Record all product shots previously and store to folder in separtes hd.

2-Have someone make the graphics in photoshop with alfa channel and store in folder on hd.

start show with live talent when product come up simply playback from hd to a vidblaster window and overlay corresponding graphic for product or talent. You will not have animted graphic for now but its coming-and switch between sources as you like.

Vidblaster studio works just like a video switcher but has more capabilities

Vidblaster will encode for you (thats why you need a high end pc or g5

Live talent audio and any other audio source should be go from mic and/or deck into audio conole then through one of the cameras audio inputs (for better sync).

Phone equipment for talent can be purchased at B&H or electronics store.

I would not have the director talk to the talent this should be done by the producer.

also get some lights florecent if you can.

    any questions just ask

Probobly your higher expense will be a good set so if you have money invest in this.
