The LDM series monitors are good and are increasingly being used in broadcast stations. Sony, it appears, are intent on making LCD broadcast grade monitors the future for TV. Whether they’ll succeed is another matter. They are far from cheap though!

This is an indication of a hardware problem and is best suited to the hardware forum.
A constant beep usually indicates a RAM or Video card fault.

Ditto with the JVC monitors Tim. They are green and from experience don’t last as long as the Sony’s. They also have those annoying curved tubes. Bring on the Trinitrons!

You’ll be pleased to know you can edit on a suitably qualified laptop with an external firewire drive and mojo. We’ve been doing exactly that with a DELL M70 and Lacie ‘Big’ drive. The drive plugs into the onboard firewire controller and the camera into a Pyro firewire PCMCIA card via the mojo.
Just make sure you stick to the AVid specs for the laptop and you shouldn’t have any problems.

Ignore the above, I’ve just realised you have Encore. Can you try bringing your sequence into Encore as an AVI and letting Encore do the encoding and see if this resolves the problem.
Failing that, one project I had for some reason was ingested with the wrong field order for PAL. I changed the field order on each clip within Premier Pro and all was well. Might be worth a try.

I had a similar problem to this when encoding from within Premier Pro. It must be related to the export settings.
I have a Matrox RTX.100 card that can encode in realtime. Using this I have no problems with titles. Bringing in the AVI sequence from Premier Pro and encoding also works without issue using Adobe Encore with the default project settings.
I’ll give Premier a try tonight using it’s encoder and see if I get the same problem.

It really does sound like an interlace problem. Your settings appear to be correct.
Do you have a copy of Adobe Encore that you try the encoding in there?

Sounds like you need to export in Quicktime. It should be on your Avid already, if not it is available at low cost from Apple.

Now that’s an idea!
Let’s keep the interface and application integration of PPro, the capture process from Vegas and the professional workflow processes from Avid along with their tech support, regular patch procedures and the management teams that listen to the end users and deliver what they need.
Sadly though, if some one came along and did all this we’d have nothing to bitch about… but then we could just get on and do the work we need to simply and efficiently. Mmm.
I hope version 2 of Premier Pro will either make the application what it should have been all along or lose many of us who have been hanging on for so long for Adobe to get it right.
