New cable, same problem. Anyone with any ideas? Thing is, I’ve done this before with no trouble. I tried another project and it flickered as well. Could it be something out of whack with the deck?

Just spoke with a friend at another production facility who said it was probably an improperly shielded cable. My old cable fried last week and I put on a spare one I had laying around. I’m picking up a new one today. Hopefully thats my problem.

Found my own answer, thanks anyway. The button routing was jibberish. I got into the custimize button routing box and straightened it out.

Its sounds like you may have the “Scale clips to project settings” box checked. If so Premier will automatically try to conform your image/clip to current project size. Go to Project> Project settings> General. Make sure the check box is not checked. If that doesn’t solve the problem you can tweak the way Premier conforms the image by going to File> Intrepret fotage. Make sure to select the image in your project folder first or the intrepret footage option will be greyed out.

Thanks for the reply. I finally figured it out. As you suggested I dropped the dpi to 72 and switched the pixel aspect to .9 NTSC. It made a much smaller file but still seems to hold most of its original quality. Apparently Premier Pro 1.5 has a problem processing high res photo’s and such. Hopefully it is fixed in the newer versions.

Both PSD and TIF should allow you to export with the transparency intact.

There may be a simpler way but this is what I do. The image you opened does not have a transparent background and will simply display white in the areas you cut or erase. Select the foreground image you want to save from your photo, cut and paste it into the transparent window you created with the project. You can also cut and paste the entire original image to the transparent project window to begin with so it will display the transparency underneath as you trim it out.

I had the same issues with several different DVD-R brands including Fuji DVD-R’s. I switched to Taiyo Yuden DVD-R’s and have not had any more problems.
