Mike a few things to try would be to make sure the graphics are the same size as the project so you aren’t resizing them dramatically on the timeline. It may also simply be your preview setting and not the actual graphic at all. Make sure the clip is rendered on the timeline and the preview is set to highest quality in the drop down menu available in the upper right corner of the preview pane.
On the weird tracking between key frames you can right click on the key frames and make sure the Temporal and Spatial Interpolation is set to linear and not Bezier. If that doesn’t solve it the only thing to do it delete the existing key frames and reset the movement with new ones. Not copy and paste. For some reason Premier can get glitches with the linear path between key frames.

You are comparing apples to oranges. The Scarlet is a full 3K HD camera while the XLH1 is HDV with half the resolution (1.56 megapixels)and recording to tape.
The XL is a great camera, just not even close to the red for HD quality. The Scarlet was having firmware problems the last I heard. Not sure where they are with that.
For price and knock around durability I’d probably go with a XHA1 over an XLH1 unless interchangeable lenses are a requirement. They both shoot with the same resolution and the smaller camera and smaller price tag are prime considerations when they are going to be used in outdoor environments taping action sports where the camera takes a beating. I would not class them as “studio quality” cameras however.

On a PC you can select the razor tool then hold the ALT key and make a cut with your mouse on any track regardless of which track is selected.

I hear you and I don’t disagree with you basic take on it. Its just that CS5 means a whole new system to get up to speed with 64 bit. New camera, new system, all new software. A very large chunk to bite off all at once. I was hoping CS4 could handle it for a year so I could piecemeal the upgrade as finances became available. I may have to pass on the new Canon for awhile.

You are probably correct. I was hoping that when Canon said it was “already compatible with most NLE’s” they were using a known Codec we could drop right in. Maybe that is asking too much. What would we do without conforming, converting, and employing a multitude of work arounds for the first 12 months of every new camera release?

I downloaded a .MXF file from another site which, aparently I am not allowed to mention here. It was a .MXF file from the new Canon XF305 series camera. Canon claims wide spread NLE support for the file but it gave me an error when I tried to bring it into CS3.

Just received…. according to the reps at the Canon booth at NAB. They claim that, due to the MXF wrapper, the files are compatible with all current versions of Premier Pro.
