Thanks Ann, I did not know that. It is still a pain though. Trying drop in video to the correct track, trim and sync to music or other video clips was WAY quicker when I could simply page up/down to the correct edit point in the corresponding tracks and paste on the CTI position. Even using the CTI as the “snap to” edit point is now much harder. This is a big step backward IMO. Still scratching my head over the need to change this feature….

CS5 and above is supposed to handle them. What version of PPro do you have?

Unless you are saying that you can’t play it back after you capture it into Premier. There are some issues with the Black magic playback in Premier CS5.

Try Edit>Preferences>Player Settings then choose “Adobe player” from the drop down menu. The Black Magic Playback option is problematic.

    Edit>Preferences>Device Control

Then select “Black Magic Device Control” in the drop down menu.

If all of your setting and footage are compatible then it may simply be a weird link or file corruption inside the program. I have solved this type of issue in the past by simply restarting Premier. Sometimes simply moving the footage to another video track solves it. I have also had to delete the clips from the time line and then drag them back onto the time line from the project bin. All meant to delete or bypass the corruption issue.

  • Did you try the rate stretch tool? Holding the Alt key while using the tool lets you stretch or compress the video track separately from the audio track to help with matching lip sync.

Thanks everyone for the feedback. It was incorporated into the final specs for the system. At this time I think I’m swapping the Intel i7 980X for dual quad core Xenon processors because of the 24MB RAM limitation on the i7 chipset. With the two quad core Xenon’s I can go as high as 96GB. I have the system out for bid right now. Just wanted say thanks to everyone for the input.

    Thanks Todd!

I was actually pretty surprised to see the number of items not available cross platform. Many of which I use on a regular basis. Maybe I need to re-think the Mac.
