Try Trashing your FCP preference. If it still not working then am afried that you have to re install FCS

Capture ur HDV tape wia Kona as 8 bit Uncompressed or 10 bit. Use this for ur DVD export also

If you are capturing DV materials, it wont be a problem. But when you go to 8 bit uncompressed or 10 bit un compressed, this external drive will make mad. But surely u can use a external drive as a scratch disk.

yes, but u will nedd to scale it to fix with HDV aspect ratio if ur PAL footages are 4:3
