    Hi John,
    My settings;

I did play around a little with “Render As” settings.

The event looked much better in the DVDA preview than previously. I did burn to DVD using the SD template in DVDA.

Playback on a TV was pretty clean, but of course not as good if done in Blu-ray. For now, this is the best setting I could find until I do my upgrading. Thanks again John, for all your help. Ray

    Hi John,
I burned a DVD in which the quality is still not there. The DVD looks better than it does in DVD Architect, but no where near the way it looks in the Vegas preview. I did preview the DVD on two different TV’s. The DVD appears to have a little noise as well as horizontal artifacts. I get much better results from my HDDV camcorder upon editing/rendering to DVD than this. I do plan on investing in a Blu-ray reader/writer as well as upgrading to the new upcoming Vegas Pro 11 & DVD Architect 5.2. This may take care of my problem. I sincerely appreciate all your help. All I can say is that I’m thankful for you and all in this forum. Thanks, Ray

    Hi John,
Thank you for your help. I downloaded the VASST DVD Prep plug-in as you stated. I went on to render a small event using the plug-in. Opened the event in DVD Architect for preview.
    1) Clarity is at least 40% less than in the Vegas timeline.
    2) All the horizontals are wiggling/jagged.

In addition to using the plug-in, I rendered the long way as you described. The results were exactly the same as the plug-in. I then tried a couple other events and received the same results.
On the flip side, I can now preveiw an AVI event on the Vegas timeline in the Best (Full) preview setting “without” having to use Dynamic RAM. The preview is totally clean and clear…..Awesome!!

I don’t understand why the preview in DVD Architect is so degraded in comparison to the Vegas preview. I must be missing a setting somewhere. Possibly in DVD Architect, but I don’t know where. Any more ideas would be very much appreciated. Again, thanks for all your help, Ray

  • Awesome! Thanks for the help John. Would I be right to assume that these settings would be the same for Blu-ray? Do you have any setting suggestions for my “Project Properties?” It appears that HD 1080-60i (1920×1080, 29.970 fps)would be the one, but not sure. Thanks again, Ray

    Thanks Jim,
I didn’t know what to expect since I never edited in this manner before. I’ve always worked with MPEG files due to only owning dv camcorders. I am after high quality HD for my video/still needs. It’s been very interesting running into the different curves when it comes to using other sources of equipment. Cineform’s Neo Scene may be the way for me to go, providing the quality will be there in the final output. I hate to spend the money on this camera if it’s a toss up. Thanks again for your help and input it’s been very much appreciated. Ray

    Hi,
Thanks for the replies. It appears editing with this camera would be sort of a pain. I’m going to re-evaluate purchasing this camera. The reason I was so set on this particular camera was due to it’s still (18 mega pixel) and video mode capabilities (Advanced movie mode with manual exposure control and selectable frame rates: 1920 x 1080 (Full HD): 30p (29.97) / 24p (23.976) / 25p, 1280 x 720 (HD): 60p (59.94) / 50p, 640 x 480 (SD): 60p (59.94) / 50p
This camera seemed to be the best of both worlds in a small package for under $2000.00.
I you or anyone else has any suggestions of something similar that would have a great workflow with Vegas Pro, please let me know. Thanks again for all your help. Ray

June 4, 2010 at 7:27 pm in reply to: Pro 9 Capture Issues?

    Hi John,
After opening Vegas, I reduce it and proceed to my desktop shortcut that I made for capturing. This is the Vegas capture shortcut that Spot shows in his tutorial. On the flip side, when I use the capture icon “within Vegas” a different type of window opens. This window looks a little different and doesn’t have anywhere near the options like the one that I open from my desktop. It does however, place my events right into my Project Media with the thumbnails in picture form. I hate to get rid of the desktop shortcut mainly due to being able to set all my preferences, options, etc.. For now, I’ll open my capture window from within Vegas, which by the way, works flawlessly. As always John, your help has been and will always be very much appreciated. Ray
