    Hi,
    First, I want to thank all of you at Creative Cow for this awesome forum, especially John Rofrano for all of his recent/past help. I’m having another little glitch during my Vegas Pro 9 setup. I’m sure it’s me, not Sony.
    I have the VASST Tutorials in which I used for setting up my Capturing shortcut as Spot explained in Volume 1. All went fine, with the following exceptions;
    For some reason, after capturing the video event, it will not go into the Project Media automatically within Vegas. I do have Vegas open/reduced while capturing in the capture window. In addition, the clip thumbnails show a filmstrip instead of an actual picture. Once I import the events/clips into Project Media, the thumbnails are properly shown with a picture.
    I have to perform the following steps in order to import the video event/s into Project Media within Vegas;

    a) File/Open
    b) D/Captures
    c) Highlight events wanted, then open
    d) Events will then be in Project Media

    I’d like to add one more thing;
    The pop up window “Capture Video” that is launched as soon as you open the capture window no longer comes up. This window asks if you want to use either an external or internal capture application. Is there a way to recover this pop up?
    Once again, if you folks can shed some light on my problem, I would sincerely appreciate it. Thanks, Ray

    Thanks for the kind words Ray. I don’t understand why the captured media isn’t being placed in your project. I assume that you are invoking the capture utility from within Vegas? It should be returning the video to Vegas. The film strips are how the capture utility shows the clips. This is normal. You won’t see thumbnails until they are in the media pool in Vegas.

    As for getting capture to ask you if you want to capture DV or HDV again, I have not found a way to get this prompt again without resetting Vegas. You can go into the video preferences and set it to use the DV VidCap or not, but I haven’t seen a preference to be asked again.

    Hi John,
    After opening Vegas, I reduce it and proceed to my desktop shortcut that I made for capturing. This is the Vegas capture shortcut that Spot shows in his tutorial. On the flip side, when I use the capture icon “within Vegas” a different type of window opens. This window looks a little different and doesn’t have anywhere near the options like the one that I open from my desktop. It does however, place my events right into my Project Media with the thumbnails in picture form. I hate to get rid of the desktop shortcut mainly due to being able to set all my preferences, options, etc.. For now, I’ll open my capture window from within Vegas, which by the way, works flawlessly. As always John, your help has been and will always be very much appreciated. Ray
