Well there is a little of a cost difference. Money is not the issue for the company, but the fact I am trying to save them money, will be more trust in the fact I am not just buying crap left and right.
thanks for the info guys, We believe that until HD / BluRay become more abundant amongst our clients, I capture all of our HD footage down to a High Res Uncompressed 8-bit SD footage via the Kona Card. Works wonders that way. Get great quality with the Standard size. So, definitely made my mind up on jumping on the Mac Pro with 2.66 Ghz, 4GB of Ram.
But another quick question, Should I get 4 – 1GB Sticks or 2 – 2GB Sticks? … Would that make a difference?
Thanks again for all of you info.

January 7, 2008 at 10:51 pm in reply to: How can I run FCP on 2 macs on the same network?Actually I called Apple about that, and they said that they will not support the FCP on ONE Desktop AND ONE Laptop anymore. Since Many people are now using the Laptop as their main computer for editing. So NOW the license only states ONE COMPUTER OVERALL.

Thanks
We are also thinking about upgrading to CS3 but not the Production Suite … just AE. And we also want the Design Set as well, Photoshop/Illustrator/inDesign. I appreciate the info. That truly helps.
-Thanks again-

Hey There Luke I also want to give you another Good Luck.
My answers to your questions:
1) When I was going through the process, it was more than helpful, but I have seen some guys make it with out. I had to go through tests to better insure my employer.
2) I agree with Darby, it does make the selection process easier for any employer. Proof you can do what they are looking for.
3) Definitely reels that better fit the needs of the company are great. And a few twists that you may think they would like is good plus as well.
4) 2-4 minutes MAX, People in general have a short attention span, plus you need to think about how many reels they look through when finding the best candidate for the company. So 2-4 is a great time span to best catch their attention.
5) I also think DVD would be the best, of course depending on how the company utilizes media a BETA or VHS would also be good.
6) Online reels are probably the best out there. Especially since many cliental project their projects on line.
Again Good Luck and be patient.

Well, to put in my 2 cents … Professionals use Film instead of digital media to capture footage. So the slow motion on Analog Equipment looks so much better. In digital media I have only seen HD look so good. I have edited client’s mini-DVD footage and sorry to say but there is alot of anti-aliasing already on the footage before even any effects.
But someone will jump on for you and give some solution to get close to achieving this goal. I would recommend slowing it down then blur the footage ever so slightly to better hide the lines.
Good Luck

You shouldn’t be having an issue to tell you the truth. I also edit on an Intel Mac and a G5 Mac. For our studio here.
Have you tried throwing away your preferences on both macs to set them up the same?
Also, I would try saving on the Intel side with only the standard 4 windows (Browser,Viewer,Canvas,Timeline) sometimes I find it takes abit longer for the G5 to open the other bin windows I have open.
Good Luck with all that.

Have you checked your A/V Settings? Under Final Cut Pro>Audio/Video Settings>A/V Devices(TAB)>Export. Make sure you have a destination for the video and audio.
I would check that first.

Right … Video formats only read RGB. And FCP can read a layered photoshop image by the way. When you import a PSD file into FCP, it will create a Sequence with each layer seperated. You can then select the layer or layers you want to use in your edit. Good Luck with your projects.
