Thanks John,
I’ll give that a try. How I use it on the Avid is: We work with 8 audio and 1-3 vid tracks. Many of the close cuts on each of these tracks may be a few frames off from the other. If I’m trying to overlap dialogue, I loop all of my tracks and select trim mode in one direction. But on the several tracks I want to overlap, the rollers are in different directions. I can hit the trim arrow once and then hit play while in trim mode. It will show me immediately how it sounds and looks. If not right, I can continually adjust with the arrows without going out of trim mode. In our edit rooms, it is probably the most used trim mode. One editor who had worked with FCP in the past said it wasn’t available and was one of the factors which turned him off continuing FCP. I’m hoping the newest versions will have it available or in the near future. I will play around with what you mentioned and see how close it is. Thank you.

The drive is raid 0 striped, Mac OS Extended, no journaling.

Hi Jerry,
Thanks again for your time and help.I have gone through and reconnected the show a few clips at a time. When I would find a bad one…I would delete the media and the clip. (I’ll import them later). Every so often, one would freeze up the program and I would have to hard boot. I would have to open the project again off line, then mount the drives. Which meant the previous clips were again offline, but I figured they were all right since I had already tried relinking.
Since I’ve gone through the show, the program will still not open if the drives are online….do I need to repair the drives with disk utility in some way? I have 2.5 terabytes of material..I would hate to have to import all of those p2 files again.Sorry for my ignorance on FCP…first timer.

thanks guys.
I had tried trashing prefs (actually kept them in another folder), that didn’t work. So I tried your suggestion of having drives off line. Good news, that allowed me to open project. I replaced my original settings…and the project still opens. I opened my raid drives and saw there were a bunch of .tmp files, which I assume were the transitions during the reverse telecine process. So should I trash those files, and then try reconnecting media? Or reconnect first?

Hi Bogiesan,
I am cutting a small feature on FCP. It was shot 1080p…about 3 terabytes of info. I have 2 – 5 enclusure burleys with 10 x 500 gig seagates. I’m planning on Raid0 to get the speed I need for the full res feature. I did get the raid to work with disc utility tonight…think I have it figured out. But if you have any other suggestions, they are always greatly appreciated. This is my first attempt.
Thanks
