    Try to open them. If they open properly should be a problem of the Finder that display the thumbsnails wrong. Relaunch the Finder: Apple Menu> Force Quit>Finder>Relaunch. If the FC thumbnails keep wrong, fix the Finder with Techtools or Diskwarrior.

    When my Mac does this I just “Repair Disk Permissions” with Disc Utility (Mac) and everything comes back.

    If it persists,
    you can also
    Re-boot from your “OS X Installer CD” (hold down the “c” key while starting the Mac with the CD in the drive)
    When the CD window first opens after the restart, select “Disk Utility” from the pull-down Menu.
    Then run “Repair Disk” on the System Disk
    and all should be well agian.
