November 21, 2010 at 8:14 am in reply to: Textures Noise Shaders Animation- serious unfunctionalwell , I did update drivers and I now can use at least one animated
texture I have.Just changing its characteristics in place of others.I have yet to realize if this truly was the problem.

Yeah it is the Westwood Studios not the shockwave.
well I just learned I can only export to W3d and .P3d Using Renx/Gmax.
apps.
No plugins for exporting to .3ds to try and circumvent this.
(I have found as yet)I guess I just have to get 3ds if I want to use these, but that seems stupid.Buy another app just to use files to convert.
I can prolly just use Renx/Gmax to do things, But it is not the same.
Can do SO much more with them in C4d with what I have learned so far with it.faster,easier,quicker. Am not wanting to do the game stuff, just want use all the models, animations and have for stock files.
Am still atm looking into this some more.
EDIT: well to add more info, I have learned that licensing allows for importing W3d but not exporting with regard to these files with Discreet(gmax/Renx)found plugins for both RenX and 3ds for importing. Do not have 3ds Max. So, I can use them if I were using 3ds max. lol.
So far the answer is no. less I get 3ds and can export them and then import to C4d.

??? these are not 3ds.
I have C4d R10. Would like to use them in C4d.
Are you saying 3ds can use and export them?.w3d file type
When I looked at C4d It was said it can import export many file types, but It will not do these or others I have found out.
I like C4d, It has been an eyeopener and easy to use understand for the most part.
I will extract the the .w3d file with all meshes interior exterior, but C4d says unknown file format. .w3d.
So it appears that I would have to open the models into Renx and save as (export) .3ds?
Somehow I dont think this will work but give it try

November 11, 2010 at 2:51 am in reply to: Spline,Landscape,Fur Applying grass to 1 aspect of shaped landscapeThanks for reply.
The polygons are so out of whack. they are huge stretched triangles.
and the hair would only apply on them. must be segments or other attribute settings. But, I have learned a couple other ways to maybe do this.
1. I duplicated the landscape, scaled it down, and got just the top to poke through. Not ideal.same outcome.
2. I created a new landscape from a cubic spline, the other was preform object drop.why it was so out of whack unsure. If it is the furrows segments attributes or what.
Am stuck in rendering past day,but in using the Spline, the top is a cap.I have yet to try and add fur/hair/grass to it.
Also seen a tut on making grass using an extrude technique. As usual whenever I think I cant figure something and post it, I learn or find or figure something out.
Until I can get back into app after current render to test some more.
I thought there may be a way to add a polygon, object, plane in the shape of top to correct for the weirdness of the polygons on the landscape top.

October 27, 2010 at 9:01 pm in reply to: New track > Geometry > Align to Spline. MISSING!well thanks very much, that helps a great deal, it might have been ages before I seen that in the tags.
I know with most things there are several if not many ways to do them,
but trying to clunk round a camera in this with just view windows and move tool and key punching frames was getting old real quick.Again, big thanks for the reply and added info.
I try to title my posts so they are useful to any others, and adding the right answer solution is a big plus.

October 22, 2010 at 10:55 pm in reply to: Endless Zoom-Shapes-What app? Function/technique usedwell Thank you very much.
Will definitely look into fractals.
I think things like this are too cool.Would love to experiment.

TYVM.
Yeah I am not very knowledgeable on codecs.I have others some work some do not.
But I started to just render out with .PNG sequence and it has cured it.
But I will look into those also. Thanks again Cory.

Well Thanks to everyone who replied, I will reference this a lot.
But to be honest, I said to hell with the manuals and just dove into it.
And I have learned more in a week than any manual might LOLI am the type to try and read it from the ground up so as to understand everything. But every manual I ever read is usually fruitless.(the best manuals are in the Army-TAMMS)
And also thanks for COW. It has answered many questions without me having to ask them.Just if some would title their threads better.

October 11, 2010 at 9:01 am in reply to: Focal points of camera- Can they be keyframed?Actually Cory answered it perfectly. TYVM
I am still getting used to how the UI works.
But I do have another question.
This does not seem to work in the Date/Time manager of the Sky Creator.
As in Setting a keyframe for the time to be say 9PM,
then add keyframe later for a later time so as to say speed up a
sunset.
