The only solution is hardware (Kona3 or equivalent) upconvert.

  • hi,

rendering speed or speed in terms of realtime editing means using raid systems. This has nothing to do with ram or cpu speed.
So if you have no fast raid, you have to render.

    good question.

    thanks for the downconvert tips

  • Would be interesting, because this would be totally against anything I know about RAM. I think get as much as you can get and the machine runs better.

    Thanks for your input.
I think I’ll go for a test of the variable framerates. I’ve tested already the 2100. I must say, this is the camera for the next 10 years of production. If you stick with p2.
    What do you think?

    Thanks for your input.
Mainly I’m working on SD. But sometimes an HD shows up. I’ve got an Panasonic HD Control monitor(Makes SD as well) and one Bus is still free. Storage is no problem, because I#ve got an Xserve Raid and a SCSI Raid. I still want to continue with my IO, because it is very good and reliable. The card has to work with the IO together. The AJA Tech recommended the Kona LH. Mainly I got P2 HD Material, so I need a monitoring. If the customer still wants a Tape, I can borrow a HDCAM or HDDVCPRO. Normally people want to have the feeling of HD, because a SD DVD stands at the end. How do you downconvert?
Because this seems to me a major point in loosing quality what we are fighting for.

    Hi Ben,

this sounds interesting: A handheld one? How is it connected to power? Because I’m looking for a quick nice light easy to setup, just to give a face a nice smooth finish.
Do you know more about it?

Nice light the kinoflos but you still need power and in terms of Studio production you need fresnel lenses, because kinoflos are soft and bouncing you can’t direct them properly. The kinoflo is best on location and short distance when you need a soft lighting in faces for example.

  • There is no thing as too much ram. Ram is good for the system.
