I would also go whith the hardware problems. You need to check your RAM. I’ve had similar problems. This had to do whith abad RAM. I used Techtool Pro to detect the fault. It didn’t show up with apples first aid.

  • first of all don’t use a G4 with FCS2. You need a G5. I would prefer a smaller screen. For me a 17 ” Powerbook is too big from the size. I think for a portable notebook 15” is enough. Also mechanical stability on a smaller Book is better. I would recommend 4.5GB Ram for FCS2. We use a powerbook in the field with a spare battery 15” screen for transfering P2 files and editing. We still use FCP5, no Motion. Motion uses the RAM and also the Powerbook gets really hot when you use it intensly.

    good luck

    Hi,

normally there shouldn’t be a problem. To our Experience we keep fingers off these FW drives. They caused a hell of problems whatever. We stick to P2 cards. They are reliable with a solid connection. There could be a hardware problem with the FS. Try to copy the whole content Files on an externat HD. If they copy you have at least no hardware problem. If all of the clips show up in the log and transfer, try to copy them through FCP one by one. First of all write down all the clips showing in the camera. When transfered check whether they play. Then mark the clips successfully transferred on your tracking list. Then you know which clips are probably corrupt.
My advice: Don’t use FW attached drives with p2 cameras.

    good luck

  • The WMV stuff including Flip4mac sometimes reacts strange with 6.0.4 and Leopard. I still use it with 4.9 in Tiger and FCP5.

I think it’s not possible. But I’ve never used it. It would be a nice feature

normally the files show in the log and transfer window.

Did you transfer th whole content folder?

    Hi,
sounds good, at least you could install the system. No, the buildt in software is not enough. I’ve had this problem and even had to read the reports from tech tools pro to detect the fault. Tech tool also checks your system. My system did work, but not properly. Now my whole system works faster and more reliable. It’s worth buying.

Either you have a bad RAM chip (test it with Tech tools Pro) or your HD has bad blocks.
I guess a Ram chip. If you test it with tech tools you have to read the test descriptions! The computer starts directly from the DVD:

It’s a wedding-friendly camera. There is a button to adjust aperture.
