So, you don’t have a raid, you are on a internal sata drive.
If you work in SD 25Mbs you should be able to edit. If you start working in more advanced codecs, your internal drive isn’t fast enough to handle the data. Then the machine starts to stop or makes weird things.
The best thing to do is to work from a Mini Raid, like Lacie or other manufacturor who has a 800 FW connection. These raids can handle up to 80 Mbs and the most important fact: They work with Raid Level 5 which means that your data is save when one drive goes bad.
But you should check your machine (techtool Pro for example) first

    I hope this helps

    Oh my dear,
this sounds bad news. If 25 is in sync I would say stick with 25 and stretch the rest slightly so you hit the 25. Try it, do a little math and look whether its in sync.

I wöuldn’t go to 10.6, I would go to 10.5.8 first – installed on all your machines. (+Studio2)

I would say: Never change a running system.
But you are still on 10.4 and all programmes you are running will work with 10.5 and latest updates.

  • So Ralph,

we are at least two waiting for the new machines to hit the market. At the moment it seems, that Premiere ia about to take the lead, because it’s the strongest package with Photoshop, After effects and Cinema 4D. I’m working for the soccer premier league in Germany and 6 months ago they’ve equipped all professional bradcasting with FCP. So, I agree it is not a niche market. They didn’t take Avid. What bothers me is, that apple has given up Xraid. Xsan is no good. We’ve got a lot of problems with Xsan. When you work with FCP the raids are almost as important than the program itself. I don’t think the new 12 or 16 core machines solve this problem.

    take care outside

  • Nice to hear Dennis, I’m a bit jealous. Apple is behind, hope they hurry up. Steve Jobs is more into IPhone and IPAD than anything else.
