  • Final Cut Studio 2 and Snow Leopard, a bad idea?

Problems with my Blackmagic HD Extreme card mean that an OS upgrade is on the cards, as I’m on 10.4 for compatibility with our G5 offline suites. But, before I do this I want to make sure that upgrading the OS won’t really screw things up!

    What’s the general consensus?

    Cheers!

I would say: Never change a running system.
But you are still on 10.4 and all programmes you are running will work with 10.5 and latest updates.

Okay, that’s cool, thanks! I like it when an answer is what I want to hear!

I wöuldn’t go to 10.6, I would go to 10.5.8 first – installed on all your machines. (+Studio2)

I didn’t think G5s could run Leopard or Studio 2? I’m not even sure where we’d be able to but Leopard, it seems to be Snow Leopard or nothing…

G5s won’t run Snow Leopard, and can’t run all of studio3.

They can run Leopard and fcs2.

G5s can definitely run Leopard 10.5.x and FCS 2.

They cannot run Snow Leopard and FCS 3.
