    You are right Allen,

the only thing which bothers me, is massive render time. Perhaps working in Pro res.

I forgot, the DVC Pro 50 timeline must be anarmorphotic.

    What I suggest is:

Edit the Film in your original HD codec in the timeline (DVCPRO HD)
Upscale the shots not more than 130%. Your shot picture is 100%.
Then make a final cut mov. (export) of the whole show still in DVCPRO HD codec (untouched)
Drag this mov. into a DVCPro 50 timeline and render.

    I hope this helps

    Hi Peter,

you have to edit in HD codec upscaling more than 30% (130% Total) gives you a significantly loss of Image quality.
    After that downconvert into SD.

  • I ‘ll go with Michael,

if you can wait, let’s say 6 weeks, the new 12 core should hit the market. Rumors say by June. The advice of an apple operator, asking the question of waiting was to wait. He put me on a waiting list.
CS5 is definitely a strong production package. Avid is far too expensive and still doesn’t want to work with third party options. At the moment I tend to stick with FCP Studio and see, where the next step of Apple is heading. It might be, that we all meet in the Adobe forum and talking about Premiere and After effects.

There is a lot of hot stuff in my statement.

    Hi Cameron,

clipwrap and mgeg Streamclip (without the plugin) doesn’t do the job. I haven’t tried compressor, I did go for Moyea which is about 30 bucks and it works very well.
    Thanks for your input.

It is a Sony HDV. The files I need to transcode into QT are the m2ts files.
I’ve read a thread about this problem and tried the trial version of Moyea MTS. It works. Do you know of a better tool or method?
Mpeg streamclip doesn’t do the job.

    Thanks a lot

  • This sounds strange to me.
I work with P2 since 6 years, never lost a file, have got the same system than you. No problems at all.
The first idea was trashing prefs. But you did this already. Do you have a older version of FCP 6 on a seperate HD?
    My advice:
wipe out a HD or a partition of a HD completely.
    Install OSX 5.5 or 5.6
Install Studio2 up to the version before 6.0.6 and restart the computer. This should do the job. What you also can do is run Techtool Pro and check permissions from there. It is far more advanced than first aid from apple and worth every penny.
    I hope this helps.
