Looking at the ae file you posted got me thinking- why not lock off my camera, frame tight on a table top with green screen, spin the coin, then flip it in AE and composite it with the hand toss – adjusting the size as it comes up thru the air towards camera, then reducing the size as it falls away?
It might take a bit of rotoscoping… but should work?
    thanks again

December 28, 2005 at 3:24 am in reply to: can’t access source window-crashing

The PC running Premiere is not hooked up to the internet-however- recently the whole thing crashed and I had to reload 2000.
Reloading again would be a problem- I would lose all my currently reloaded programs etc.
However- I never had this problem with Premiere before – so it may indeed be connected to the recent reload of 2000.
Is there anyway to repair the problem without having to do another 2000 reload? I can’t recall- is there a way to load 2000- tasking it to only do a repair without rewriting over everything?
    thanks

thanks for the very detailed reply! great help-
as i wrote to Chris, regarding compositing (like “sin city”): my car scenes all happen at night- i am losing good weather here- so, i may have to find a garage or warehouse to shoot the “driving” stuff. But, if the inside of the car is fairly dark- and i hit the actor with some edge lighting and maybe a single hard, high key (again, like the great noir lighting in sin city)- and place a couple green tarps outside the windows- do you think i’ll be able to use them as my “green screens” ? or does it become a nightmare because there isn’t enough light on the tarps?
as you can tell by my post- i am new to this process- but hopeful! i’m hoping with a little expert guidance from you pros- i can advoid making huge mistakes.
    thansk again

thanks Chris for both replies (also the luma key post). the car scenes all happen at night- and i am losing good weather here- so, i may have to find a garage or warehouse to shoot the driving stuff. if the inside of the car is fairly dark- and i hit the actor with some edge lighting and maybe a single hard, high key- and place a couple green tarps outside the windows- do you think i’ll be able to use them as my “green screens” ? or does it become a nightmare because there isn’t enough light on the tarps?

this is a bit off topic- but i plan to shot the “running footage” seperately- the footage that i’ll actually place outside the windows- i assume i should simply try to shoot normally, at the actual angles i would see if sitting in the car? i.e.car height, aimed out the window, driving at a moderate speed?
    thanks gain

i haven’t shot any footage yet- trying to gather info to figure out the lighting need- since it’s suppose to imitate night time- perhaps i should try to put up blue or green tarps around the background to key off? since the inside of the car will be dark except for the few points of light- trying to key off the black or white might be a killer? any suggestions regarding this attack- will be much appreciated!

thanks for the suggestion- i am just beginning to play around a little with the AE filter- but what i have found so far is that it makes the whole image look smeared. very probably i am not applying it correctly.
i am shooting in very low light, at night (does it get any worse?) and i’m seeing a lot of noise in the footage- not just the blacks but over all.
any hints as to your basic setting would be appreciated!
    thanks much

i’m not having a problem with the audio- the noise is a grain issue due to the low light conditions and the nature of a digital format.
but thanks much for the audio noise reduction tip- i’ll keep it in mind!

    hello-
triumphant. went at this thing as if i were actually physically constructing it- and i have a fairly believeavle first effort! when i take this into the actual video footage i’ll have to force the perspective with the coupld shots- and i’ll flicker the opacity/brightness very slightly to help the ilusion- but i think i have it.
thanks again- your reply was extremely helpful and really focused in on what i was sensing but hadn’t put my finger on yet!
