    obviously i wasn’t aware that i could do this in ae. since i have not done this kind of thing before.
    do you know of any goof tutorials that demonstrate jpeg mapping?

    okay- i stink. i’ve got a duplicate of the footage stacked beneath the original. i applied the mask-render stroke to the top layer.
    now what?

    reading over your reply again- i’m sorry- i dont really understand what you’re saying.
    both pieces of footage are playing at the same time-
    #1. footage shows the guy running to the back of the car then changing his mind and running to the front.
    #2. shows the car racing into frame as he runs and now hitting pinning him as the cars collide.
    it’s as if they are married the whole time- not just at impact.

    it’s not a dummy. it’s the two pieces of footage. check out “once upon a time in mexico”- the shot appears in that film.

    thank you all! these have been extremely helpful- never ventured into SPX before- so having a lot of fun.

    tried the motion option- theres a percent option- but doesn’t seem to do anything. there is a resize filter- but when i drag it ontpo the footage- no setup options appear-there are no controls to resize?!
