[Bill Davis] “Sure that’s what YOU want. And it’s what maybe I want. But how exactly does that benefit the team making the movie? Or is your idea of modern business that if you figure out how to do something and therefore get a lead on your competitors, the “proper” thing to do is to invite the entire world inside your workflow and therefore save them the time of having to do as much hard work as YOU did, so that they can better compete for the same jobs – but easier!!! “
This is what people have been doing at The COW for years.

September 13, 2013 at 2:03 pm in reply to: Is Apple Motion JPEG A the same as Quicktime Motion JPEG

Motion JPEG (MPEJ-A or MPEJ-B) are almost prehistoric codecs.
    Apple consider them “Legacy”.
You can read the files with QTPlayer, but you will be able to export to them only if you have some old QT versions.

1080p25 is broadcasted and streamed as interlaced; what is call PSF.
As Nick wrote, the 1080i50 is your option.
1080i25 if you had an AJA instead of a BM.

September 11, 2013 at 2:49 pm in reply to: DV stretched on export

If you are playing the clip with QT Player, is normal that looks distorted.
QT interpretes everything as Squared Pixels (unless the footage is flagged with a different pixel aspect.
Your DV stuff will look distorted in QT and also in any web site.
You need to export keeping the 4×3 relation between wide and high.

BTW, avoid “QT Conversion” unless you are making a web video.

[Bill Davis] “Unless I’m reading this incorrectly, to get the benefits, you need somebody who’s willing to buy and run an Adobe Anywhere hub”
Seven application are updated, not only “Adobe Anywhere”.

    Hi Meghan,
    Vague is your post.
You do not explain nothing on your system, workflow, settings, footage, sequence contents..
Difficult to guess what’s going on there.

September 8, 2013 at 3:38 am in reply to: Log & Transfer tips?

[Ray Stark] “3) My footage is 1920×1080 24p (GH2 camera). I plan on editing in a 23.98 timeline. When it’s time to output will I need to fool with pulldown for a Blu-Ray disc? What about a regular dvd? Is there a way to do this within FCP?”
Those p24 are not really “p24” but “p23,98”.
Real “p24” is only found in cinematographic cameras. Is not a video standard and the GH2 works with video time bases: “23,98”, “29,97” and “59,94”. Those time bases are commonly identified as “24fps”, “30fps” and “60fps” for commercial purposes.
So L&T and edit on a “p23,98” sequence.
