I’ve been having a look to the manual (https://www.grassvalley.com/docs/Manuals/iddr/turbo/071-8401-01.pdf), and although states that imports QT files, it doesn’t mention which codecs supports. but being a device with a few years already in the market, is very possible that can’t manage the last QT supported codecs (H264, Prores,..).
In the page 21, the manual says that the device internally records MPEG-2/LGOP (4/8/12/15Mbps).
In the page 98, it says that imports MPEG-2 Program Stream/MPEG Layer2 Audio.Personally, better than a QT Animation, I would try the MPEG-2 Program Stream option.

The file is 16:9 but the screen is 4:3. pixel to pixel the screen is 630×480.”
That’s not standard size for DVDs.
720×480 NTSC pixels, is the size.

You must have the “Frame Control ON” in order to make a proper downscaling and processing of the Prores master.
Then try to set the higher data rate you can allow for the MPEG-2 conversion.

First of all, make sure that you have QT.7 installed.
Check as well hat the sequence is set to render in High Precision.

The p25 stuff will work without problems on any i50 sequence.
The picture will always look more choppy because you have half of the pictures per second.

Unless you have converted to Prores Proxy or LT, there is not any advantage on going back to the MXF files.

Seems that you don’t have the necessary QT Components to open the files.
Try installing Perian (free).

The slider is mostly decorative, and should be left always to the right side (100%). It will be overrode by the other settings.
What makes no sense is to leave the data-rate unlimited.

Make sure that the sequence codec is Prores and check “Render all YUV in High Precision”
