You only need to look in the Audio/Video Settings > Sequence Presets and check any of the presets that you need.
    You have both ready there:
    – XDCAM HD 1080i60
    – IMX NTSC (50Mbs)

[ricardo jurado] ” or it to be i60.”
    Don’t worry about that.
i60 is the same than i29,97. Some times they even write i30.

June 14, 2013 at 1:21 pm in reply to: Canon M500 SD Card Camera…

[Rob Gutermuth] “I really still like it – Esp the price points – show me a new camera that can do everything the XL-H1 camera can, for under 10K, and I’ll eat my hat lol”
Where have you been the last 5 years?
Today any top of the line consumers camcorder yields better quality than the Canon HL-H1.
And for just a bit more, you are almost ready for Hollywood:

About your downscaling issues, you may try to set the sequence codec Prores instead of DV, and check “Render in High Precision” and “Render Motion Effects BEST”. That will help with the downscaling.
Compressor with the “Frame Control ON” and Rescaling filter BEST, will do a better job.
Keep away from Toast for this kind of tasks. Toast is to toast.
The Bitvice scaler that comes integrated in Video Purifier is good.

June 13, 2013 at 12:45 pm in reply to: WHY no Motu v4hd support in Final Cut Pro X?

It may be an FW related issue.
AJA has released FCPX drivers for the KONAs and the io-Express, but not for the ioHD, which is FW based.

What I wonder is why AJA still selling (3.5K) the “ioHD” when the device is designed to work only with an application that is already EOL (FC).

  • [Cal Thorley] “- I’m working in Pro Res LT 1080p in a Pro Res HDTV 1080 sequence (no field dominance) and outputting via the Matrox MX02LE on the Matrox 1080p 25 YUV 10bit setting.”
If you are working with a broadcast monitor (HD/SD-SDI), I think, you need to set the Matrox to put out 1080i25.

Your footage is p25. You edit p25 and FC puts out to the Matrox p25. But the Matrox must feed the monitor with a i25 signal, because the standard for 1080 streaming is always INTERLACED.
The Matrox streams the Progressive image as PSF: Progressive Segmented Frame.

  • You need to check “Stream Usage; Generic”.
Then on the “Extras’ tab set:
    – YUV 422
    – Multiplexed MPEG-1/layer 2 Audio
    – Program Stream.
You will get an “.mpg” with embed audio.

The best converter for the Canon stuff is an app called “5DtoRGB”.

Double click the clip on the time-line and click the “Effects” tab on the viewer.
    Make your changes there.

  • If you gonna play the movie from a Mac, you don’t need to “Send to Compressor..” nothing.
Export a self contained movie with the current settings directly from FC.
Unless you are using an slow system/HD or you edit on a heavy codec, you should be able to play the movie without problems.
About filling the screen and the display aspect, will depends on our sequence settings, but you haven’t mentioned it.

June 7, 2013 at 5:24 am in reply to: Rendering with Slow-Motion

Things do not work like that.
If you conform the 50p stuff with Cinematools, the footage will play at 25fps so will go at 50% speed and that footage will work on a 25p sequence.
If you want to slow down the 50p footage on a 50p sequence, just set the speed at 50% in FC.

June 6, 2013 at 2:41 pm in reply to: Conflict between FCP 7 & Flip4Mac Pro HD

The F4M component allows QT applications to open WM files, however FC won’t be happy managing files that are not QT (.mov).
Your best option is converting the WM files to any of the usual FC frendly codecs.
To fix the FC crashing problem, try refreshing FCs preferences.
