I am having the same problem. My background is green. I have an adjustement layer. I draw an oval mask. I ad a filter “Levels” to it. I reversed the mask. So what’s outside the oval is gradually getting darker. I set 150 of feather. But even if I am in 16bits, it looks like some bands are been rendered. Not acceptable. I am using After Effects 6.5.1 on latest Mac OS X.

September 6, 2005 at 7:11 pm in reply to: Twixtor slow down to footage and to separate alpha matte how?

I don’t understand what you wrote! It’s confusing.
    My layers are:
Layer 1: the original footage RGB, layer turned off
Layer 2: filmstrip created in Photoshop, no alpha channel based on the footage
    Layer 3: the footage RGB

So I set up the layer 2 & 3 ALT to the Layer 1 on which I want to be based.

I also did a version where I created a pre-comp for each layer, so my layers are long enough for a speed of 50%.

    Hi Pierre,
So I followed what you said. I have 3 layers:
Layer 1 is a pre-comp of the footage
Layer 2 is a rotoscoped of the layer 1
    Layer 3 is the footage

I applied Twixtor 4.5 to the Layer 2 and 3 and set the ALT motion source to Layer 1.
It works for Layer 2, but Layer 3 show that pinkish-red, nothing. It doesn’t make sense at all to me, if Layer 2 is working why not Laayer 3?
I followed the tutorial, the ‘Alternative Input’ is not documented as well as other sections, no After Effect project. I really don’t get it. ;(

I hate Lacie: I bought 2 drives in the past and both are dead. I will never buy one anymore. I have bought Wiebetech dual 800, it’s more expensive but never got any troubles since 2 years.

thank you for writing back. My timeline is about 5 minutes long. No sound. It is a simple edit, with 2 trackes. Clips are from a full digitized tape about 50-60 minutes, depending on which clip. What’s surprising is that only few functions create those troubles.
Such as moving the clip from one track to another; to paste attributes from one clip to another; to move clips in the timeline; and few others.
I think you are right, something must be corrupted in the file. But even if I copy the content and paste to another new edit, the troubles remain.
By the way I never used Disk Warrior, I thought defragmenting was not a commun issue anymore.
I am suspecting some timecode issue while digitizing. I remember that the first editor got some troubles with one or two tapes.
My hope is to wait Final Cut Pro 5 and upgrade, maybe it would help.
