OMG, this is brilliant. You’re a genius! I thought something like that but I couldn’t voice it. The Curve is the key.

    Thank you so much 🙏

The object in the center would change. The alpha channel should be defining it. I recall many moons ago, Dan Ebbert had some expression about “magnet or repulsion” expressions. I was wondering if a simple rectangle with the anchor point ant the bottom could have the Y axis fluctuate with the scale value. But I am not great at expressions…

I tried to turn off or on the Mercury setting, but it remains the same. I think I used CC2014 before on an older machine. Maybe that’s why?

    thanks for getting back.
    1) Some of the footage was shot with a Canon HV30 HDV. My files have no extension, could this be the problem? Here is a screen grab: it plays OK via VLC app.
    2) Another Apple quicktime show a codec named RLE. Doesn’t open in Premiere, but opens in VLC.
    3) another file without the .mov extension called “Apple Intermediate Codec (icod)” opens in VLC but not Premiere

Thank you for this link, it answers my problem.
I also realized that DVDSP can’t author Blu-ray, which is really surprising. I tried to keep working with Final Cut Pro Studio, but I think Apple is getting behind. I’ll give a try with Encore CS4, which I never used until now.

    Kevin,
glad to hear you are the “teacher” here to notify people when they use bad language.
As for the verb derush, I made a too fast translation from a french slang used by editors, from the word “rushes”, the action to select which rushes to use. Excuse my french.

btw, you must know how to answer this problem, aren’t you a pro editor?

May 17, 2008 at 6:05 pm in reply to: What Sequence settings for Apple OpenDML JPEG?

That is a very interesting question. I shot also with my little Canon camera SD870. When I open iMovie ’08 it scans the hard drive in 1 minute and finds all the clips and doesn’t recompress!
So, I am using the export feature in iMovie >Share>Export to FInal Cut Pro XML.
But then when I opne via inport in Final Cut Pro 5.1.4, it imports the equence, but I can’t find to match the settings of my sequence to iMovie. But if I drag one of these .avi movies from my Canon into FCP, it plays in real time, no need to render. But only in my sequence, it seems that I have to render before playing.

I found iMovie pretty fast to derush these hundreds of Canon files, so that’s why I use it, as well my wife is OK with iMovie but doesn’t know how to use FCP.
    Any thoughts?

it works too. But when the sound is off, the Linear Wipe value is 0% which translate to show the bar of the equalizer. It should gives 100% so the Linear wipe would be complete.
I did this, I add ‘101-‘ in the expression for the Sound Key, Range value:
    101-effect(“Sound Keys 5”)(45)

it seems to work fine now! Anyway big thanks to you guys for your help.

it’s almost working! But I think the problem is the percentage:
    it increases correctly like you specify the value step = 4;
But it gives now percent like 23% 26% 29%… but that doesn’t match the ‘transition Completion’ to be where it should because percentage doesn’t match position increase.
I guess the formula for step should be something like:
    100/24*4
    ?
I missed those days when I was good in mathematics..!

    awesome guys!
what I have been trying to do is to animate an equalizer. I have seen quite few tutorials on how to do it. The one I decide to go for is easy to modify when I’ll receive a new soundtrack (client to decide later which soundtrack). I am using the trapcode Sound Keys. I have a vertical bar made of 24 segments. As the sound peak to 100% the bar gets full. I have linked the bar with a ‘Linear wipe’ at 180 degrees. It’s good because it ranges from 0-100%, so I won’t have a sudden peak going over (though an expression could have limit the range, but I am not good with expression).
So I guess I could use one of your expression and try to modify with the Linear wipe ‘Transition Completion’?
