I am a little rusty with After Effects… I used to be able to preview my animation in full screen when setting up the Preview to “Full Screen” while hitting the space bar.
But in CC2017, it shows the windows top and bottom. All I want it’s just the animation and nothing else.
Not sure what am I doing wrong.

Your preview panel does have the full-screen option ticked for spacebar, right?

I’m trying to remember what happened with that feature when Mercury Transmit was enabled in AE. (And what version that was…)
You may need to go in and set up Mercury Transmit instead. Easy to toggle on and off with a keystroke and makes it truly full screen.

I tried to turn off or on the Mercury setting, but it remains the same. I think I used CC2014 before on an older machine. Maybe that’s why?
