    Thanks Nick,

Managed to do it through Compressor.

    Thanks for the reply

  • thank you very much Warren

I did some testing with ‘5DtoRGB lite’ and it works great.

I am off to purchase ‘5DtoRGB batch’

So the final verdict is- Cannon has not released any updates from Mark3 to work on FCP 7. In order to work with Mark3 files on FCP7, you need to have ‘5dtoRGB’

    Thanks for your inputs guys.

  • Thanks shane .I was hoping for your reply only 🙂

Well I tried compressor preset to convert the files in prosess it gave me below issue.
Timecode that comes out after compressor is 1frame ahead.
    For e.g :
if the original timecode is – 00:11:15:04 to 00:12:10:02
    compressor timecodd is – 00:11:15:05 to 00:12:10:03

You see the total duration is same, its just that the actual timecode gets shifted by one frame.

Do mind that my original footage is shot on 23.98FPS, is this a problem?

  • extending the 5.1 question further-

export that we do from FCP is basically a 6 track mono audio.

Is it dolby? how is it different from dolby?

I assume dolby 5.1 would be a single file(and not 6 mono tracks)

What are my options for the software if I have to go for HP LTO5 ultrium 3000 recorder.
Also do advice me if I want to use the LTO recorder with my macbook pro, what more peripherals I will need to install?

In general do advice me on elements that I need to purchase if I want to use the above mentioned recorder on MAC system(not necessarily on macbookpro )

    thanks

    i m thinking about ‘LTO-5 Ultrium 3280 ‘.

Do I really need to buy a software?

what if I want to write in ‘LTFS’. I assume if I want to write the data in LTFS format, I dont need to buy third party software.
Like bru- they have their own proprietary format which allows us to write a data and maintain catalogue.

Why do I need to buy software and what are my options?
