Your dvd recorder probably compressed the audio as AC-3 (Don’t know what settings) so it lowered the level. You can adjust the level if you do the compression yourself, but maybe you can control your recorder’s settings, check it out.

Thanks for the information! Seems like Macrovision didn’t reach their goal that they were so talking about for RipGuard, that was supposed to be uncrackable!!

That’s why DLT are still recommended, or even DDP, if supported by the replicator. Burning a DVD at 16x is like burning a CD at 52x, or like going at 250-300km/h and hoping not to hit anything 🙂

PAL players will read NTSC DVDs, but another question comes up: what about the TV ? If the TV just support 625/50, what happen with PAL player that read a NTSC DVD ?

You can edit your DVD-ROM with an Auto-run (autorun.inf) that will start your .exe

The ROM content will autostart at the same as the DVD-Video, because your player is set to autostart when a DVD-Video is inserted.

  • Look into the manual. You can’t direct link a button, the link is activated as a menu or a track show up.

Eric is right, for the Mac, DVDSP is the only professionnal dvd authoring software (Sonic Creator and Sonic Fusion are discontinued but still useable, if you can find one used, go for it). Like Eric said, its not totally perfect since it uses a abstraction layer that prevents you to have complete control on dvd specifications, but it makes it easier to use. You can edit a lot of professionnal titles without having any issues, but for more complex projects where you need to have tight control on dvd specifications, you will have to look on something like Sonic’s products. You also have DVD-lab Pro (199$), that is considered by some pros as Scenarist’s jr.

Well, I heard some pros going 4.2 as it provides enough room for that kind of problems (often hardware issues and especially for replication). Sure you will be safe with 4.2, but for my experience 4.35 should be fine for duplication. Look at those software that shrink a DL DVD to fit on a DVD-R, they all go down to 4.35GB. I’m not so experienced yet, but that’s what I know for now. Hope it helps.

I think you duplicator is right when he says 4.36GB, I even think it must be 4.35GB to be safe. You should always allow a 5-10% of free room to avoid this kind of problem. Maybe that is not the solution here, but you should try.
