is audio in dvd video lower than in a audio cd
hi; i made dvd video, real time recorded throught a firewire port of a mac to a dvd recorder yamaha
the sound was an original music by cd (44.000 khz) the track level was the same when i edited the video in media 100 (at 44000 khz)
but listening to the final dvd on a tv results in lower audio than cd music level
i suppose than normally audio in dvd is lower than on a cd.
is this true? dvd audio compression causes audio to have minor level than original?thanks

Your dvd recorder probably compressed the audio as AC-3 (Don’t know what settings) so it lowered the level. You can adjust the level if you do the compression yourself, but maybe you can control your recorder’s settings, check it out.

It’s true that CD Audio levels are less with anything television related.
DVD, Tape whatever it is.the peak rate for cd’s is usually -1 or 0 normalized
the peak rate for video is usually -10 with occasional peaks of -6
still within spec. -
I meant CD Audio levels are always higher than anything for TV.
