Hmm. Good to know. I have indeed color corrected within FCP so I guess I’ll use animation.
One question though guys… for future reference. I had no problems getting the footage (or reference) from Final Cut to AE, but ran into a snag on the way back out.Once I’m finished with my titles I go: Composition > Add to Render Que > (and then I get lost)… I just left “Render Settings” at Current Settings and “Output Module” at Lossless.
I hit Render. AE saves a .mov on my desktop (which looks compressed) – but I couldn’t find anything in my original FCP timeline on a video layer above the old montoge of clips?
I must be missing something here guys?
Thank you,
Michael
Also- One more thing. Are better codecs available with other more “professional” programs? If so where can I get them? Someone mentioned AJA or Decklink the other day?
What is used for “full blown” feature film titling (or close to it)…. if I know that these titles are going to be projected on a huge screen and I want them to hold up? -

I won’t have access to a deck. I’ll be in the field.

November 9, 2005 at 3:58 am in reply to: Buying advice? Need receiver with optical out to use with Powermac G5 and FCPWhat about when I want to monitor the timeline and the footage is playing from my mac/harddrive (not through the deck)? Is the mac sending the audio signal from the timeline back through the firewire to the deck for audio playback? That seems redundant to me?? That’s an additional device that the signal has to go through…. it seems more direct to go right into a receiver from the optical out. Or even directly to a really nice pair of powered reference monitors from the Mac.
What’s the reason for this.
Thanks,
Michael

Jiri,
You wrote: “Are we really going forward(as our fathers and grandfathers did),or are we following
Indians and Asians in the way we do business???”That’s really offensive to me and I doubt I stand alone. Please keep those type of comments to yourself.
thank you,
