Thanks for the idea.. but no, no extra files. The problem occurs before I get a chance to “save as” anyway. Stephen Mann came up with some thoughts, and for a while all was well, then like the Cat Who Came Back…. it did.

I understand where you are at, and I worship Ctr-Z like any other editor, but repeated undos undo everything. Sure I will get back to the starting point for one particular edit, but all other edits will be lost too, and I want to keep them.
All I want to do is revert one event somewhere earlier in the timeline back to a non pan and crop state. Looks like the simplest way is to delete the event and replace it from the media bin. I was hoping there might be a way to select the event and press a magic “Remove Pan and Crop” button 🙂
Now I think of it, delete and replace isn’t so hard a thing to do. Thanks for making me think Ralph! One of the reasons I love this forum. -
That’s OK for a just-done setting, but unfortunately not practical if I come back many edits later. I just can’t help thinking the answer is staring me in the face!!

That would work for an effect, but not pan and crop… or am I missing something here?

Stephen, I don’t know whether your suggestion worked or not, but the problem seems to have gone away. After following your suggestions and rebooting after each change, the program faulted after the last boot up, so I figured it hadn’t worked. But after shutting down that day and starting up the next morning all seems to be going well.
So I don’t know whether to give you the box of chokkies or the gremlin in my computer rack. Rather give it to you for your time and suggestions.Thanks.

I had suspicions about MSCVR90, but I will do my homework as you suggest. Not happy about re-installing Windows, Vegas et al, but if a boy’s gotta do it, he’s gotta do it.
Oh God, why didn’t I buy a Mac?

Hi Stephen.
Unfortunately your suggestion didn’t work..
I uninstalled, rebooted, installed Net, rebooted, installed Vegas, rebooted, then opened Vegas, then opened my project and….Problem Description

I restarted Vegas and the project loaded as normal… so no real dramas, but it really spooks me in case one day it doesn’t come good. I keep saving versions at critical points now, just in case.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I am no stranger to computers and the vagaries of the MS Dos then Windows systems and associated hardware, and having written commercial programs in the past I just hate it when something isn’t working and I can’t get to the code and see if it is to blame or I am. Sort of not being able to fix your car these days without a degree in everything.
I love Vegas, having come from an ACE editing system back in the eighties to Avid, Premier, and Edius.
It is forums like this that keep the ship sailing.
So Thanks once again, and anchors aweigh. -
Mike, thanks so much.
