Have a ProRes 422 File from FCP (96G). Can drop it into time line of Vegas no problem. However playback of audio is choppy (audio is fine).

    Any help appreciated.

Running Vegas 9A and QT 7.6.0

Try updating your Vegas Pro to 9.0e and Quicktime to 7.6.6. Do not install Quicktime 7.6.7 as some have reported problems with it and Vegas.

Thanks John. I know you have posted this before but what is the highest version of QT you can use with Vegas 9(a)?

I don’t know because I haven’t use 9.0a in a long, long time and I don’t know why anyone would stay on this release with 4 releases of bug fixes after that. I’m guessing the 7.6.2 should work on 9.0a.

I knwo Vegas can handle a ProRes 422 but can it handle Pro Res LT, Proxy and HQ equally as well?

Also what high quality/ HD format do you prefer coming out of FCP that works best on Vegas w/o loss?

I believe as long as it’s a form of ProRes you can decode it on the PC. This is an Apple Quicktime limitation and not a limitation of Vegas.

FCP is extremely limited in the codecs it can use. I think ProRes is the only option other than uncompressed.

Now if you don’t mind a little loss, I have read that some people are using Sony MXF to go between Vegas and FCP with good success and quality. There is a free Sony MXF plug-in for FCP from Sony.

John… I might be on the wrong track, bot I am having issues with (I think it is) mov files, and I have qt reader 7.6.7 loaded (Vegas 9e).
You say to load 7.6.6 but where can I get it now Apple only has 7.6.7 on its site?

Phil, you can find most older versions of QuickTime on the Avid site
