Well put Stephen. But that JVC et al jump on the 3D bandwagon doesn’t prove much except each wants to cover the other. That said, yes, 3D may well become everyday… but with what technology. And yes, the big studios will certainly embrace 3D as in a big theatre it is close to real life. Possibly for home theatres too. However, on the small screen (is 55″ small now?) I can’t help but wonder. Small screen 3D is not the real life feel of the big stuff, and looks more like a moving diorama. Anyway… the small percentage of 3D work won’t pay my bills. Lets agree to disagree… and when we are older and grumpier, see who was closer to the mark – if we care by then. I like the force of your argument though!
Meantime.. I just wanna pwogwam that woiks.

    Cheers

Well there you go, Stephen. Shot me down already. But you do have a bigger market place in the US, but working in the corporate field I know of no-one wanting to put their stuff out on a relatively minor (in uptake) and volatile technology. Nice to behold I grant you, but percentage-wise 3D doesn’t seem to be screaming up the popularity charts, and in the meantime I really want a good stable editing platform. I feel Sony is only trying to bolster its mistaken foray into 3D consumer gear that in this country, even with a good economy and high dollar, consumers are giving a miss to. But then again, we are all upside down here in downunderland, aren’t we? 🙂

Interesting you should say that, Steve. I have Adobe CS5.5 installed and hoping to get around a Vegas pro 11 issue in Premiere, nearly went nuts. Vegas interface is a dream. I just wish they stopped mucking around with 3d and spent time and money on the rest of the code. In the pro world, who transmits/records in 3d? The big studios for cinema, yes, but they won’t be using Vegas.
Pro should be for the everyday working production house/person I would have thought.
Now see who will shoot me down and say they watch/edit/shoot #D all the time. 🙂

Not sure how your i7 is 2-3 times faster than an i5. I have run tests on both CPUs in the same machine, and almost no difference. And that was without any other non-Vegas stuff loaded. Love to know your secret.

Iam running Win7 pro 64, i5 CPU (i7 really does not do more except cost, and the i5 is very over-clockable, nvidia 570 graphics, 16g RAM, SST boot drive.
Vegas Pro 10d is my workhorse (started with Vegas 6) and is solid as a rock with Ultimate S, Vegasaur and a few other VASST add-ons. Pro 11 is installed, but I am reluctant to unleash it on my day-to-day work given a couple of tests crashed.
Interesting that some users claim Pro 11 “rocks”, and for them well it may. Looking at the two previous posts, Mitch is having issues, Rick is happy as a cow in pasture… so what work are they doing? Perhaps one doesn’t use many effects or overlays etc. PC computers are notoriously non-standard, but on reasonably new machines with little time for the clutter to build up, there must be a way to figure what it is that upsets Vegas.
As for the free Blue titler… no comment.

More and more I get the feeling SCS are throwing the product out there for users to find the bugs, and not doing their own testing. Fair enough, the issues seem to be attended to, but by the time V 11 is stable, out comes V 12 and away we go again. Maybe I am a born sceptic.

    Hi Mike,

Apologies – my error. I did mean detail view. I didn’t have the program open to check. Although it remembers, I do change the order and/or items depending on the project, so the one-at-a-time method is a bit of a pain. Seems like it might be a candidate for the wishlist.
    And Happy New Year.

    Phil.

Mike… as an aside question, are you aware of any way to remove or add columns in one sitting in the List mode for Project Media? The only way I can find to do it is call up the settings screen, click or un-click a column name – the dialogue box then closes – then I must open up the settings screen again etc. etc. Damn annoying.

You are running Studio not pro so the previous suggestions may be a bit wide of the mark, but all the same have you looked in c:\program files\ for the Sony folder and sussed out the .exe file and run from there?
Certainly it should not have been removed unless you copped a virus, but unlikely.
