  • Sony Vegas Pro 11 – just doesn’t add up ?

I have been a Vegas user for 2 years now and have put up with all the little quirks and system instability it had because I liked how Vegas worked. Now I find myself continually having problems with my system.

Windows7Pro-64bit – Vegas Pro-64bit (build521)- 12gig -nVidia GTX570 that is super clocked with 1.2gig GDDR5 RAM and Vegas continues to crash in all manner of different circumstances.

I have tried everything I can find on this forum including:
    – Uninstalling Vegas and every plugin I have and starting again
    – Rolling back the video driver and trying 4 different versions including the latest NVidia Beta Driver 295.51
    – reinstalling a new Graphics card

I am sick to death of fixing little problems when I would rather be editing videos for my clients. Some people will say “It’s your system “…I say it’s the buggy Pro11 Vegas.

I am on the verge of switching editing platforms because I just want to work and get on with things and not have a problem with my machine, almost every single day. I am just constantly frustrated, at my wits end. Premier Pro is starting to look real good about now.

Love to hear what you have to think.

This really worries me. I’m about to build a new PC because I’m sick and tired of all of the problems I have with Vegas 10 and 11 on my current system.

I was looking at similar specs as you, and if 12GB of ram isn’t enough, I doubt my plan of getting 16GB will help much either.

Just in case you want some hope, I have been using Vegas Pro 11 64bit for several months without any problems at all. Hope you can get this worked out because 11 rocks.

Thanks. I went to Micocenter and purchased my components today. I just need to pick up the case and power supply and I’m good to go.

Iam running Win7 pro 64, i5 CPU (i7 really does not do more except cost, and the i5 is very over-clockable, nvidia 570 graphics, 16g RAM, SST boot drive.
Vegas Pro 10d is my workhorse (started with Vegas 6) and is solid as a rock with Ultimate S, Vegasaur and a few other VASST add-ons. Pro 11 is installed, but I am reluctant to unleash it on my day-to-day work given a couple of tests crashed.
Interesting that some users claim Pro 11 “rocks”, and for them well it may. Looking at the two previous posts, Mitch is having issues, Rick is happy as a cow in pasture… so what work are they doing? Perhaps one doesn’t use many effects or overlays etc. PC computers are notoriously non-standard, but on reasonably new machines with little time for the clutter to build up, there must be a way to figure what it is that upsets Vegas.
As for the free Blue titler… no comment.

My i7 renders 2-3 times faster than my i-5.

I have been a Vegas user since version 2.0 and have loved it. Version 10 was less solid than previous versions, but completely usuable. 11 has been a nightmare for me. I have 64 bit i7 system with 12 GB RAM and AMD video card. I’ve had numerous crashes and still can’t render mp4 files unless I limit rendering to CPU only. New Blue titler immediately crashes Vegas and is completely unusable. My attempts to get help with these issues from Sony and New Blue tech support have been underwhelming at best.

I’m not ready to switch quite yet, but the situation is sad and disappointing.

Mary I always have problems when trying to use the GPU for rendering and often switch it off to render. To be fair to NewBlue they did send me a link to the new version of TitlerPro which is bundled with Pro11. Here it is. I have not had a chance to test it yet see how you go.

Update to the newest build of Titler Pro.

    Good luck

    [Mitch Drummond] ” super clocked”??

If you are overclocking the CPU or the GPU, try turning that off. Even, try underclocking.

Hi Stephen, You make a good point. As this stage I have only been running the card at standard speed and have not turned it up. one thing I haven’t tried is underclocking? Great suggestion I’ll give that a go.
