I am running windows 7 professional, had Sony Vegas movie Studio 11 running before closing down for lunch. When I came back and rebooted, restarted Vegas from the usual short cut and received an update notice. I couldn’t start the update as it required me to log on as administrator. I didn’t know how to do that so had to close and ignore the update. Now I cannot even find the program and the short cut came up with that dreaded windows icon that immediately signals a disaster of some kind.

Where could an installed program with a 3 days of work saved (?) on it disappear?? Surely it must be there somewhere???

I would appreciate any help or advice,

    Thank you, Douglas

Evening first time posting for me, but I might be able to help. This happened to me earlier, and what I did was reinstall Vegas 11 from the original Vegas 11 CD I had. It will run you to a few screens and then the Windows Wizard will let you know that there is a newer version of Vegas Pro 11 and asks you if you want to download the new version, click yes. Download the new version and you will be set. All my files were there.

PS…NewBlue Titler is stil crashing for me. I have to pull it to the timeline to use it not just double click it 8(

    Have you looked here

Click the Computer Tab from the Start Menu.

Then double click the Local Disk (C:)

If it was a 64bit version in will be in c:Program FilesSonyVegas Pro 11.0Vegas110.exe

If it was a 32bit version in will be in c:Program Files (x86 )SonyVegas Pro 11.0Vegas110.exe

I am assuming you are logged on as you and not Administrator

You are running Studio not pro so the previous suggestions may be a bit wide of the mark, but all the same have you looked in c:\program files\ for the Sony folder and sussed out the .exe file and run from there?
Certainly it should not have been removed unless you copped a virus, but unlikely.

    Thank you John,

Regarding my log on as myself and not administrator goes, yes indeed you are correct. I am very new to both Windows 7 AND Sony Vegas Movie Studio Platinum II so am struggling somewhat. However, with the unselfish help from people like yourself I will get there. The truth is I couldn’t work out how to log on as administrator as I thought that may be a requirement. Right now I am tied up with Christmas family matters so I will probably get back to it in a day or two. I am NOT a professional videographer although I did much professional still photography mostly in the graphic arts and printing field before retiring in 2001. I will let you know how I progress with this baffling problem. Oh yes another thought, it happened immediately following an update from Sony Vegas.

    Thanks again

Hi Luis, Thank you for your thoughts I feel that your suggestion will be the way to go. I have had my copy only 4 or so weeks so it should be current (???)

Hi Phil, Thank you for your response, yes I did look in Drive C program files and the Sony folder. The title was there but on opening the folder the program wasn’t. I am totally mystified never having experienced this before.Christmas now being over I can get back to this and will come back ant tell you all what Idid to cure the problem. Thank you everyone for your thoughts.

    Douglas
