It may be too late for some, but it’s highly advised to make disk images of the disks you have to trade in to Apple. No risk. Great price.

Won’t be this cheap too much longer.

Have you done the basics yet, like Trashing Preferences and Repaiting Permissions on your Mac?

You only need the crossgrade if you want to run Final Cut Studio (5.1 and beyond) on your Intel laptop. And $49 is a steal.

Bad idea to tell someone how to break the law. No matter how easy or obvious it may seem to you.

Just my 2 cents. And Cow policy.

Have you tried trashing your preferences? Check out FCP Rescue (use it after you generate new prefs to restore them instantly the next time) if you don’t use it already – it’s free, too.
Also you might want to Repair Permissions on your startup drive with Disk Utility.
You may have done these already, but you haven’t mentioned it, so… Hope any of that helps.

For what it’s worth, I once owned the Panny DV-1000. Worst deck ever. Died (needed new drum and other parts) within 13 months of low-to-moderate use. Right after the warrranty ran out. Of course.

So no surprises that it was the deck.

  • As for the audio changes you want to make – select all the clips you want to make the same change to (you can hold down the COMMAND [apple] key to select non-adjacent clips) and use the keyboard shortcuts of ctrl-< to pan left, ctrl-> to pan center and ctrl-/ to pan right.

    Hope that helps.

July 26, 2006 at 7:37 pm in reply to: green line on audio clip

I shoot with an XL-1 all the time and most of my clips are NOT exactly 48KHz (e.g. 48009 Hz, 48003 Hz, etc..). It’s just a quirk of the camera, as Telly suspected.

Any audio that does not EXACTLY match your sequence settings will indicate that it needs rendering with that green line. Not to worry and hope that helps.

Actually, there is a list, although it’s far from complete, and a lot of devices that are known to work are no longer listed for some reason.

Also – you’ll need to upgrade to 10.4.4 or later to use FCS.
