    NOpe, it doesnt work.
I click on the Video Event Effect (The X) at the end of the event. Then the video even event effect window opens. I slide the slider back and forth and NOTHING happens. Zip, nada, I don’t see any change in the clip. In the video preview, the pull down next to the Screen Split View doesn’t allow me to clear the Clipboard Selection OFF.

    So, what is the problem?

    Ok.
Is the scaling down done by the graphic card, the monitor?
Is it done automatically by the hardware/software set or do I have to do it myself?

Regarding Vegas native HDV editing capability, what do you have to say?

So the specs given by Vegas on their site are not really realistic?

and no need to go for the more expensive monitors, a 20″ is enough, right? Having a 24″ would be nicer, but not really more usefull? Is that what your’e saying?

Grinner and AK-Jake, thanks a lot for your answers, I appreciate.
SInce I’m not a pro, I’m going to buy a mac, I’m thinking about the new Imac 24″, the Mac Pro is a little too expensive for me. I’ll install FCP on it, when and if Xpress Pro ever runs on it I’ll install it later.

Yes,AK-Jake you were right to remind me tht with Avid I have to be carefull to get a certified system. I now remember horror stories on a few forums about people who had problems. I’ve also noticed that the system AVID certifies are always high end and not the cheapest. FCP might be easier and cheaper for me to start with.
    thanks a lot for responding

    Kevin,
I’ve noticed on your profile that you’re using both FCP and Xpress Pro.
Which one would you advise to use to somebody who is interested in docs and narrative fiction?
    Thanks
    Phil

OK, it won’t play on a PC but who cares? You can send back the edited footate to tape or to a DVD. Who want to play on a PC.

So basically it seems that FCP is capable of HDV native editing. I honestly thought it was impossible because I had read that the GOP pattern can’t be edited, but I guess i was wrong.

    Thanks for your answers.

Great, thanks for your answers. It seems indeed that not having a 800 firewire would be too bad.
