changing brightness
Posted by Philippe Orlando on August 30, 2007 at 9:52 pmHi, I’m trying Vegas and I need to change the brightness of an event. I’ve found out how to apply the desired effect, but how to I make the video change? I know how to select the plug I want etc,,, but then what?
How do you apply it to the event ?
Why isn’t more intuitive?
Also how do you clear the clipboard?
Thanks

August 30, 2007 at 10:14 pmSelect the event chain icon on the event, the “X”, then select the brightness and contrast FX tool, adjust that back and forth with the slider, then just close to save, it’s as simple as that, and this is quite intuitive……………………
I too would like to know how to clear the clipboard!

August 30, 2007 at 11:06 pmNOpe, it doesnt work.
I click on the Video Event Effect (The X) at the end of the event. Then the video even event effect window opens. I slide the slider back and forth and NOTHING happens. Zip, nada, I don’t see any change in the clip. In the video preview, the pull down next to the Screen Split View doesn’t allow me to clear the Clipboard Selection OFF.So, what is the problem?

August 31, 2007 at 3:06 amTry the other tool icon on the event, which is the panning and cropping tool. Try doing TRACK LEVEL brightness control, which is the same icon on the video track. If brightness and contrast is NOT changing, stop right there. Your video card is not behaving properly or DirectX is not properly configured or not compatible, etc. This really is a no brainer. Look at me I am an expert. A week ago, I started using Vegas Platinum and now I’m flying high. It’s absolutely awesome.

August 31, 2007 at 1:05 pmFirst of all, do NOT use “brightness and contrast” to adjust brightness. It’s probably the worst tool you could use for the job.
Instead, look at the color curves and maybe the gamma controls in color corrector tools.
Secondly, adding it to an event is as simply as dragging the effect to the event. You should only add it to the track when you’re wanting to affect the entire track.
