Yes, I’m aware of what the GH6 can do. As for the GH5 I’m not talking about bit rate for uploading, I’m asking whether or not what the GH5 offers in 4 K is enough for serious color grading. Yes, eventually all decent hybrid cams will have prores or raw.

  • I don’t really need assistance with this, nothing vital. But since Vegas 12, which is the last version of Vegas lingering on my computer can still capture the footage from my XH-A1 I find it upsetting Resolve can’t. I haven’t used Vegas in years now, since version 12 as you can tell, and I’ve become used to Resolved that I used with various cam. But you know, the footage of that old XH-A1 is so amazing that sometimes I wish I could actually treat it in Resolve. When I plug the cam into the computer Vegas 12 detect the cam without any problem and I can do it. When I tried in Resolve, it’s not detected, so it’s not that firewire is dead, it’s that Rsolve doesn’t support it.

Thank you, Tero, I’ll check this. Yes, I haven’t used Firewire in years since all my cams now have cards. But you know, when it’s time to use that beautiful dinosaur that the XH-A1 has become.

    Is it worth it?
    Let me explain to you.
I’ve been with Vegas since version 7. I’m currently using version 12 pro. I’ve learned Resolve, currently using the 14 beta version, it’s simply amazing. I hate to say that Vegas is going to become slowly irrelevant. Like you, when I was using Vegas 12 I thought I would just use Resolve to color correct. Nope. Resolve 14 is now a very capable editor and the sound editor is very good too.
Sorry, Vegas, not updating and frankly I think Vegas is going to go as Resolve is free and becomes more and more capable.
I strongly advise you to start learning Resolve, then learn Fusion that works hand to hand with it.
I know, It’s breaking my heart, and I used to love vegas, and I still think the interface is amazing, but come on, Resolve is as good, better as far as color correction, and free!

  • Thanks, George!

  • George,
Great, it worked. It’s actually called Cineform Codec, not Cineform Go Pro Codec, I assume it’s the one?
    Thanks again

    Great, thanks!

  • If I’m not mistaken, the BMCC only does Avid DNxHD formats at 1080p, correct? If I want 2.5K I need to shoot raw?

I think I’m going to wait and see that Ursa Mini. I personally don’t need 4.6K so I’ll check that 4K cam as soon as it’s out.

Yes, the GH4 is a contender.
