About 3 years ago I bought 2 190WH batteries and charger for $900. They were sold under the “Beilen” name and have nothing but good things to say about them. They are probably somewhat more now but still a much better deal than AB. Just one equivalent AB battery would cost more than what I paid for all of these items. On top of that , they have lasted longer than AB batteries I have had in the past. I use them on my HPX 500 and I can go days without recharging them. The one weakness is the charger which is somewhat flimsy although mine has never broken; but at these prices you can buy two and still pay less than one equivalent AB charger! Here in South Florida everyone’s using them.

  • You don’t. Premiere edits P2 (.mxf) files natively. No need to log and transfer like on FCP. Use an offloading software like Shot Put Pro or Panasonic’s CMS (available for free from their web site) to transfer your material to a hard drive that has a USB port..

To see your P2 clips in chronological order in Premiere, go to your bin, click on “list view” and then click on “video in” at the top of the bin. That will make all the clips fall into chronological order.

  • A year ago I had a similar problem with a P2 card shooting on the HPX500. I could see the thumbnails but I was unable to play it back in the camera or import it into my NLE. I sent the card to Panasonic’s engineering office in NJ and they told me that the card was bad. Luckily they were able to salvage the footage and they put it on a replacement card. Give them a call and send them the card.
    Good luck!

If you say that you can see it on your lcd screen, output it to tape via sdi or firewire and then digitize it the old fashion way into your machine

I have my equipment insurance and liability through the National Press Photographers Association. http://www.nppa.org The equipment insurance covers replacement value. The annual membership is $110.00. Check it out.

There were two other cards in the camera at the time but they were write protected so it wasn’t able to jump to the next card. Didn’t change the battery, the clip won’t play back from the camera and it doesn’t show that there are any errors on those clips that don’t play back. I was shooting in DV mode, no doubt about that..

When shooting in flourescent light, set your shutter speed to 50 and that will help get rid of the flicker..
