I’ve seen some websites offering rebuilt Anton Bauers, or generic cases with the off-brand cells in them, for a lot less than the real thing. Comments range from very positive to very negative. Generally, the batts can’t be charged on an AB charger.

Are any of these batteries a good deal, or should I stick with the brand name?

About 3 years ago I bought 2 190WH batteries and charger for $900. They were sold under the “Beilen” name and have nothing but good things to say about them. They are probably somewhat more now but still a much better deal than AB. Just one equivalent AB battery would cost more than what I paid for all of these items. On top of that , they have lasted longer than AB batteries I have had in the past. I use them on my HPX 500 and I can go days without recharging them. The one weakness is the charger which is somewhat flimsy although mine has never broken; but at these prices you can buy two and still pay less than one equivalent AB charger! Here in South Florida everyone’s using them.

Should i rule out that there would be a non-AB branded battery that uses the AB charger?

I’ve been using batteries from Video Tech Supply for about 5 years now. First with DSR-300 and the past 3 with the HPX-500. Excellent run times and great prices.

I know a lot of people using the batteries from https://www.batteries4broadcast.com/
and they have been very happy with them. As for a non AB battery being able to be charged in a AB charger or vice a versa, I’m not sure.
**I do not work for Broadcast Camera Batteries or have any association with them**

Good suggestions. Thanks. But I need to replace a Dionic 90, for which I already have an AB charger. Unfortunately, buying an aftermarket battery + charger costs as much or more than a Dionic.

I used to be in the same situation 5 years ago. If you are in in for the long run, you will save more money by buying a new charger and batteries from aftermarket vendors.

What caused me to change? My 3 year old Dionic 90’s were dying.
