Clip Info Titler works onclips in a bin and builds a sequence. It will not add the titles to a sequence, so that’s probably the issue.

Could you try sending it a bin of clips and see if it works as designed.

Now, if you’d like a feature added to use an existing Sequence that can probably be done. For that could you zip up the XML files that didn’t work (your FCP exports not the Clip Info Titler generated ones) and email it to me philip@intelligentassistance.com and we’ll see about adding the feature.

Sorry about that Ryan. There was a bug that presented the wrong XML version if your were running Final Cut Pro 6. It’s been fixed. Please update from inside the application or download it again.

    I apologize for the inconvenience.

We just released Clip Info Reporter https://assistedediting.intelligentassistance.com/ClipInfoTitler/ in response to a request from the Cow’s Shane Ross. It was released earlier this week and should do what you need. Or we’ll make it do what you need!

  • Thanks for the response Mike and yes, I’ve been around since the M100 days but drifted off to the FCP world, and now software development. You’re right, the Speech Analysis works directly off the media file and puts the result back into that media file. I ultimately decided I’d dump the atmosphere-rich version and go with the quality mic only. I can always add the atmosphere back in.

Testing a new piece of transcription-editing software we created on a documentary we’re shooting. (prEdit lets you manipulate the edit using the transcripts, including making new subclips, entering log notes etc, for FCP and Premiere but uses Premiere/Soundbooth for time stamping words in the media file and transcribing them).

    Thanks again Mike

Sequence Liner is an amazing utility, but it’s a different utility to Sync-N-Link. SequenceLiner does not actually create merged clips, which Sync-N-Link does. Plus Sync-N-Link can sync an already edited program.

Sync-N-Link runs as a demo (limited to 10 clips) until activated.

  • You can download a trial of Sync-N-Link from https://www.assistedediting.com/Sync-N-Link/. It will process the first 10 clips in a bin, or the first 10 clips in each track for the post-edit synching process (not possible with Avid or other tools).

Bevel alpha – I loved that plug-in in After Effects. Motion has Bevel but I can’t find a way to make it bevel just the alpha channel. (Of course, I searched the forum and google first to make sure I wasn’t missing a simple way to do this already – but if there is I’d love to find out.)

    Cheers

May 11, 2005 at 6:26 pm in reply to: Component or SDI, which is better quality?

Well, I have a lot of respect for Jan but the observation of the SDI output from the Sony is more than simple color sample doubling, that would not be appreciably better than a DV output.

Even Apple’s Color Smoothing filter in FCP 4 onward does more than simple color sample doubling and the results from the SDI output from a Sony deck (maybe from Panasonic as well, I simply haven’t tested or seen it tested) are definitely better than from DV with color smoothing.

The only thing better for color smoothing quality would be to capture DV and use Graeme Nattress’ GNicer filter nattress.com.

Maybe Sony are only doing color sample doubling, but it sure works better than simply doubling color samples.

We’re seeing a redraw issue in OS X 10.4 Tiger with the Pro Apps Hub. We only installed Tiger on the weekend but most definitely there is an effort underway to make it Tiger compatible, as soon as we possibly can.

Fwiw, what we’re seeing is that the pages draw up in the Pro Apps Hub but then seem to be obscured but scrolling or dragging over a page reveals it again.

    Cheers

Yes, the practical result of going SDI out of any Sony DV25 deck is better because Sony do chroma smoothing on the SDI output.

You can get exactly (actually better) the same result by capturing DV25 over FireWire an applying the Nattress GNicer filter to each clip.

In both cases you’re getting chroma smoothed back to better than 4:1:1 to closer to 4:2:2 (Sony) or 4:4:4 (nattress)

It all makes sense when you know what’s going on.
