I’ve had the same problem. The only way I found around it was to change the entire project type to a DVD project. It’s a real pain. I guess I’d figure that if I tell it to fit on a 4.7GB DVD, it should figure out how to compress to make it fit… just like it did in previous versions. Does anyone else have a way to do this without having to convert the project, or create a new one?

If I put these same video clips and more layered in a regular 16:9 HDV project, they play back fine. Just not in this sized project.

In the end, I will be exporting to Quicktime. But I’m just talking about performance in the timeline alone.

    Yep, that’s what’s happening.

If you want the timeline time code instead of each clip timecode, what I do is lay a top video track that is a transparent video clip (in your bin, right click and create a new Transparent Video).

Then, apply the timecode effect to that track and it should sync up perfectly with your timeline 😉

For me, I’ve always held my major purchases until I go to NAB and hold the product, talk to the vendors, compare with others, etc. I don’t have time to read through every trade show magazine and keep track of what’s what. It’s nice to go to NAB and have it all there. See how others are reacting, develop some relationships with vendors, etc.

And I agree with the Road Shows in both senses. I LOVE it when I can see a road show and have a very one-on-one setting. However, in Lincoln NE that very rarely ever happens. If I’m going to drive 5 hours to Minneapolis, I might as well fly 2 hours to Vegas and see it all.

It’s hard to believe they had this huge “Launch” type event and the product isn’t available till the end of July. Seems REALLY early to “pre-order”.

I guess I still think there are workflow problems. Why can’t I just overlap two clips and have my default transition be placed between them? It’s such a pain and really slows things down. Also, it would be nice if I could still edit while the timeline is playing back. That way I can better adjust audio, or edit down in the line while the playhead is still moving. Anytime I click anywhere the timeline stops. Is this still true in CS3? I’m assuming so. I wouldn’t say this is a “huge” upgrade, but I’m sure I’ll be making the move. I still need to hold on to Sony Vegas and SpeedEdit though to accomplish other tasks, etc.

    That’s my $.02

  • OH. Gotcha. I thought you were meaning for integrity purposes. Your trick worked! It looks like the subtitles “stuck” this time. Thanks!
