  • I’ll try that. Why do you say to use RW?
I use Tai Yuden DVD-R Disks.

I have the same problem with SubClips and it’s been driving me NUTS!… But I found a “fix”. Open your subclip and set an in and out point, then right click in the Source Viewer and go to “Edit SubClip”. Then check the “Convert to Master Clip” checkbox and hit OK. You will now see your full clip, but the In and Out points of the subclip are selected. It’s not the best, but then this clip responds better. I use subclips to organize and then after setting the IO of what I want to use, convert back to a master clip before moving to the timeline. It’s a big suck, but it at least plays back now.

Do you use Warm Cards? I just bought some of those and they work just awesome!

Personally, I’ve had the best luck with the Panasonic “Master” tape. I’ve had far fewer digital hits with that tape.

Have you used a cleaning tape in your XL1? What quality of tape are you using to record?

The reason I asked is because when I first got my XL1 there actually was a speck of dust inside the lense and I had to send it back to Japan to get it cleaned. I thought maybe that would happen again. In the field I just cleaned the lense with what I had available, but the other day I took the lens off, cleaned all surfaces very well and things seem to be looking a LOT better. Thank you all for your insights.

I do keep stuff with me, but I think there may actually be dust in the lense and want to have it professionally cleaned. Can I just take that to a local camera shop, or do I need to send it to Canon?
