We have a project where we are doing basically triple 3D and the videos I’m making are 3840×720. I have this set up in Premiere. The playback has been understandable slow. I upgraded to CS5, hoping to benefit from the Mercury Playback Engine. No go. I then upgraded my Display Card to the Quadro FX 3800. I now have yellow bars, but the playback plays one frame every 15 seconds or so. I guess I figured that Premiere would just see this as three layers of HD Footage. Is this project just outside of something Premiere Pro can handle? Any suggestions?

What format are these clips? and What format will you be outputting/exporting it to?

    Thats very important to know.

I must say that those pixel dimentions are extremely taxing on a system.

The problem might not be your video card so much as drive speed.

In the end, I will be exporting to Quicktime. But I’m just talking about performance in the timeline alone.

If I put these same video clips and more layered in a regular 16:9 HDV project, they play back fine. Just not in this sized project.
