First Add the intro clip and the main clip. If the main clip doesn’t need it’s own thumnail on a menu, drag it to the project overview panel on the left
Now double click the intro button to open it – the timeline should be available below.
Under Media properties on the top right, select End Action – Command should read Link, and Destination should be set to the name of the main clip.Peter Wright

November 13, 2006 at 6:16 am in reply to: Need post advice on 2 audio voiceover samplesFirst of all, I start by thinking the original voice recording is IT. There’s no automatic reason to fiddle with something unless there’s a reason to.
I thought the first of your examples sounded clearer than the second – not because of the recording, but simply the voice itself.
Whether I then do anything to the voice depends on things like – what other audio is it to be mixed with (music, ambient sounds etc …) The things I do can range from EQ – dropping off frequencies that clash with other audio, Compressing – can sometimes “strengthen” a voice but not always needed – and a little reverb – important not to overdo this, unless a special effect is required.
It really comes down to trusting your judgement – does it sound clear, is the speed ok, is it too loud (or soft) – but I know it’s always good to get a second opinion.

November 12, 2006 at 1:24 am in reply to: Strange things happening with DVDA when burningI had a similar report of “double” space in DVDA4 once, but I imported the clip into DVDA3 where it was correctly reported, saved then reopened that project in DVDA4 and it was stillcorrect. Since then the double estimate hasn’t happened again. Someone else had a similar experience, so there is or was something strange going on.
Incidentally, I was pleased when including a 16:9 clip in an otherwise 4:3 DVDA project that it played in full un-letterboxed widescreen from the disc.

I haven’t heard of these converters so no experience there. If you do get one, please let us know how it performs.
– but are you sure the laptop has no PCMCIA slot? – I didn’t know they made such machines.

You could render the Intro as a separate clip then make its End Action to play the main clip.
What about audio? – if you need audio such as music to continue through from one to the other, you’d be better off re-rendering the whole thing, but if the Intro has either its own separate audio or none, then the End Action should be ok.

Options > Preferences > Editing > New Still Image Length
Needs to be set BEFORE you drop the stills on the timeline.

Very strange – and it looks like the timeline plays right to left!!! – and yet the text still reads normally.
I’d write to Sony support immediately.

No idea what’s going on, but if you hold Ctrl/Shift when opening Vegas, it should restore the default settings.

Yes, Michael, like Mike I have been pleased to investigate the Open Office realm.
I had heard of it before, but till now had not realised that it had such quality products – I am particularly pleased since MS gave me a hard time trying to install Office 2003 on a replacement computer. If I had known about this suite of programs, I would never have bought MS Office in the first place.
Thanks for the pointer.
