powerpoint files into vegas?
Posted by Baximus on November 6, 2006 at 2:42 pmDoes anyone have an idea how I would go about loading a powerpoint presentation into Vegas? It wont allow for the powerpoint files to be loaded into Vegas. Is there a way I can reformat the files into an acceptable version?
Thanks,

November 6, 2006 at 3:41 pmYou can export the powerpoint slides as jpgs, but you loose any animation, timing, etc.
Best to play the presentation and capture it with a screen capture program such as Camtasia.Gary Kleiner

November 7, 2006 at 1:47 amI too would recommend Camtasia, I recently purchased it and was able to begin using it right away. You can get a 30 day full trial version from their site. My favorite aspect is the abilty to render as an avi for import to Vegas without loss or compression.
Good Luck,

November 7, 2006 at 5:05 amI was recently asked to do this, so I too used Camtasia, with the Techsmith codec, and produced a good quality avi.
Then, to “improve” on the original, I also exported each finished slide as a graphic and assembled a “tasteful” version with each slide crossfading to the next.
You guessed it – the client wanted to use the version with all their horrible cheesy Power Point transitions.

November 7, 2006 at 2:37 pmYou could also use the Open Office suite (free – openoffice.org) and export the Powerpoint file as .SWF and drop it right into Vegas.

November 8, 2006 at 7:49 amYes, Michael, like Mike I have been pleased to investigate the Open Office realm.
I had heard of it before, but till now had not realised that it had such quality products – I am particularly pleased since MS gave me a hard time trying to install Office 2003 on a replacement computer. If I had known about this suite of programs, I would never have bought MS Office in the first place.
Thanks for the pointer.

November 8, 2006 at 7:07 pmI tried to export a ppt file to swf but all it takes is the background of the first slide. What about the other 211 slides? (I did a select all as well).
